Praying in the Spirit have several weapons of defense, we also have one weapon of offense: the sword of the Spirit, or the Word of God. With this weapon in hand, we need nothing else. This weapon contains the keys to defeat each move of the enemy. It is said that the best form of defense is to attack. But we can't fight this war with our own strength. We need the strength of the Spirit of God in the Word.
The Holy Spirit knows and understands all things. He is the teacher, the One who leads us into all truth. When the devil came against Jesus after His forty-day fast, He fought back with the sword of the Spirit. Jesus was the Word, yet He prayed and fought with the Word. If He prayed the Word, what excuse do we have to rely on our own strength in prayer?
He needs you and me to take up His Word and make it our armor and shield. He is the shade upon our right hand. He covers the area that the shield leaves bare (the shield is usually held in the left hand, leaving the right side of a person bare)
us to be equipped not with a physical or visible armor, but with the armor of the Word so we can withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. This is just confirmation that evil and storms come to all of us, although my evil day may differ from yours.
The difference between a praying woman and a prayerless woman is that one survives the evil day, while the other is blown away by the storm. Watch the life of a woman who prays. Regardless of how low she falls, she always bounces back.
Her tenacity goes way beyond her own strength. She may lose all her goods, but she's about to rock the world with a new class of goods. She may lose her family as did Job, but her persistence will bring yet another promise of God to fruition.Inner strength does not merely come because you memorize a Scripture verse and chant it all day long.
Inner strength is a result of time spent with God in prayer. In prayer, He breathes into you a fresh breath of life and inspiration that injects into you a tenacious and audacious power to live and move in perfect stride regardless of the situation or circumstances.
This is where we as praying Christians differ from the world; the rest of the world watches in awe as we continue in peace and joy regardless of imminent danger and dire circumstances. It's comforting to know you can have this if you stand against the enemy in prayer.
