Here is an interpreter of the law stood up and said, to prove to him: Master, what will I inherit eternal life?
He said to him: What is written in the law? How do you read?
He answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
And he said to him: You have answered well; do this, and you will live.

Jesus answered and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him; and wounding him, they left, leaving him half dead.
It happened that a priest descended that way, and when he saw him, he passed by.
Likewise a Levite, arriving near that place, and seeing him, passed by.
But a Samaritan, who was on his way, came near him, and seeing him, he was moved to mercy;
and coming near, he bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and putting him on his mount, he took him to the inn, and took care of him.
Another day when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said: Take care of him; and everything you spend more, I'll pay you when you return.
Who, then, of these three seems to you to be the neighbor of the one who fell into the hands of the thieves?
He said: The one who used mercy on him. Then Jesus said to him: Go, and do the same
