No Matter the Pace- Run Your Race

A pacemaker or pacesetter, sometimes informally called a rabbit, is a runner who leads a middle- or long distance running event for the first section to ensure a fast time. Pacemakers are frequently employed by race organizers for world record attempts with specific instructions for lap times.

Pacemakers may be used to avoid the tactics of deception giving the other runners the impression that they are far behind. Pacemakers are also used to make sure that the runner knows where their invisible 'opponent' predecessor is at that stage of the race. Pacemakers serve the role of conveying tangible information about pacing on the track during a race.

The book of Hebrews tells us to run the race with endurance. We are all on a journey with a destination in mind. A life well lived and heaven are the goal.

Setting the Pace:

We are the pacemakers for those who will come behind us. As older believers, we need to model for younger saints in the faith what a well-run race looks like. We should be sharing our faith and our testimony so that we can be a source of encouragement for others that are “coming behind” us.

Share Your Story:

Your testimony is worth knowing and sharing. This race has obstacles and pitfalls. No matter what you have gone through and experienced, you are still here. This means you are still in the race. Keep running. And yes, God can use your life as a witness of His grace for others.

There are parts of the journey that you will run in isolation:

The journey will often times seem lonely. This is simply a part of the race where God wants to deal with your heart and grow your faith and dependence upon Him. But I assure you, you are not alone. First, the Lord Himself is with you. (Deut. 31:6). Secondly, there are believers praying with you and for you (Heb. 12:1).

• Are we running so as to obtain the prize? 1 Cor. 9:24
• Don’t get discouraged by comparing our race to someone else’s. 2 Cor 10:12

Meet Striding Stanley

Stanley is the Rise Above It mascot. Stanley knows how hard the race can be. Ever confident, he presses toward the mark. Stanley runs to win.
