"And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king's forest, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?" And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests" ( Nehemiah 2:8)
In our churches, many are gifted with knowledge about ways of life, problems and how to go about it, but all their doing can't bring an absolute solution to those problems. For many are selfish. They think for themselves how they acquire earthly things rather than thinking about the work of God leading to salvation.
This book of Nehemiah was wrote to educate us on how to take his cross and crown.
Nehemiah dedicated himself to the call and will of God without speaking against others. He never judge any man for all judges belongs to the Lord. To be equip with the strength for the work, he fasted and prayed for Jerusalem.
In that time was the fall of the walls of Jerusalem, this was troubling him a lot which made the king he served also notice that there is something troubling him. This made the king to as him. He was very careful with his response since it was not right to let the king sees that something troubles him, for if an act is portray it is considered as unlawful before him for the punishment for that is death.
For the Lord's favour upon him, though he went into a situation like that and yet won the favour of the king. He told the King that his forefathers communities is completely destroyed.
This response also troubled the king and made him to ask of any wish Nehemiah wants. He also said the king should permit him to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. He also requested a tight security from the king. He made those request for the road was far. He also new that his enemies can attack him on his way, this made him to also requested a written note from the king.
Nehemiah also requested for building materials . The king accepted all these things not knowing that the miracles of God was manifesting in the life of Nehemiah.
