In his second epistle, to illustrate the spiritual process that goes through believers, the apostle Peter affirms that he begins with faith and ends with agápe love, which is the love of God.
2 Peter 1: 5: 11
5 You also, putting all diligence by this very thing, add to your faith virtue; to virtue, knowledge; 6 to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, patience; to patience, piety; 7 to piety, brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection, love. 8 For if these things are in you and abound, they will not let you be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he who does not have these things has very short sight; He is blind, having forgotten the purification of his ancient sins. 10 Wherefore, brethren, all the more seek to make your calling and election sure; because doing these things, you will never fall. 11 For in this way you will be granted ample and generous entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In these verses, the apostle emphasizes that God wants us to participate in his nature and that while we are on earth, we will become like him. This means that, for example, his will is that we are not sick and we are not poor or needy, because He is not.
The apostle Peter explains that the spiritual process begins with faith and ends with love. That is the time when faith works best, because the Scriptures affirm that faith works through love. Peter also affirms that if faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, piety, brotherly love and God's love are abundantly found in us, we will NOT be lazy or sterile in the knowledge of God, our Lord. Jesus Christ.
He says that he who does not have these things is blind and does not know God's plan, is short-sighted and does not see what he has prepared for the future, has forgotten who he was and what Christ did for him.
We must not forget who we were, that we have been cleansed and that God gives us time to prepare for eternity.
Before we met Christ, we had a pagan mind full of carnality, a mind that behaved like those of the world, not according to God.
When we were born again, our mind was not renewed immediately, it was still tied to habits and customs, traditions that we had assimilated and lived before knowing Christ, so we all need to purify ourselves of what comes from the world in our mind and receive the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3: 3
Because you are still carnal; For since there are jealousies, strife, and dissensions among you, are you not carnal, and do you walk like men?
In Egypt, the people of Israel had acquired the way of life of the slaves to the point that when they were free they could not taste freedom.
Instead of living in freedom, the Israelites lived as they had before ... as slaves.
A carnal mentality also had the apostle Peter when Jesus informed the disciples that he would suffer a lot, that he would be killed and resuscitated on the third day.
Peter rejected God's plan because he did not have the Kingdom mentality!
Matthew 16: 21-23
21 From then on Jesus began to declare to his disciples that he needed to go to Jerusalem and suffer much from the elders, the chief priests and the scribes; and be dead, and be resurrected on the third day. 22 Then Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, "Lord, have pity on you; in no way this happens to you. 23 But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are stumbling, because you do not set your sights on the things of God, but on those of men.
Moving from the natural mind, where the interests of satan are, to the mind of Jesus Christ, is an imperative for us.
Romans 8: 5-8
5 For those who are of the flesh think of the things of the flesh; but those who are of the Spirit, in the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the designs of the flesh are enmity against God; because they are not subject to the law of God, nor can they; 8 and those who live according to the flesh can not please God.
How can we tell if our mind is carnal or is guided by the Spirit?
Simple ... our mind is controlled by the Spirit if it produces life and peace, it is controlled by the flesh if it produces death. We remember that the carnal mind of King Saul produced death, in fact he committed suicide and his children did not have the kingdom, while King David served God, fulfilled his purpose, produced life and hope and his children reigned.
A Church that on earth represents Christ has a great responsibility towards those who want to approach God.
The Church must be the light that attracts the people, therefore, the children of God can not live according to the models of the world and manifest behavior contrary to theirs. Will, such as presenting claims, making calculations, seeking self-interest, causing disappointment and scandal to new converts.
There are three things of our character that condition our lives:
1 Our thoughts,
2 Intentions and motivations of our heart,
3 Our actions.
Thoughts have internal consequences; The intentions and motivations of the heart have eternal consequences, determine the type of eternity that awaits us and actions are visible and have external consequences;
The goal of God is not only to take us to heaven, his goal is that we become like his Son Jesus.
Romans 8:29.
For those he knows beforehand, he also predestined them to conform to the image (likeness) of his Son, so that he is the firstborn among many brothers.
If we still do not feel conformed to Christ, we must commit ourselves to the process of transformation and experience the will of God through experience. Reaching this goal means having the mind of Christ.
Romans 12: 2.
And do not be content with this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you can experience by experience what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.

One of the things we must do when we come to Christ is to renew our mind and our thoughts, there is victory, we must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
