The Lord's Prayer is also called/know as the Our Father, it is a Christian prayer that Jesus taught according to the New Testament, as the way to pray.
The Lord's prayer comes in two versions, which are recorded in the;
- long form in the Gospel of Matthew in the middle of the Sermon on the Mount
- short form in the Gospel of Luke
when "one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.
You can note that the first three of the seven lines/petitions in Matthew address God; the other four are related to human needs and concerns.
The Lord's prayer in "Long Form"
Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
The Lord's prayer in "Short Form"
Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
11:3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
The Lord's prayer is like the summary of the whole gospel, used by most Christian churches in their worship.
This is truly wounderful...... i never knew that the Lord's prayer was in two versions!.... thanks for reminding us as Christians to pray without season and believe on God's Word.

it has come to my notice that in @steemchurch that they no longer value quality post,especially when it comes to the issue of resteeming people's post. An apostle called @ abiye has been abusing his authority , how can you tell me that there are two type of the lord's prayer,it quite funny it show your post lack's quality content.my advice to the apostles of steem church they should act in accordances with rules and ethnics of the steem church.this my humble opinion

The Lord's prayer is a model prayer for us to follow. There are points in it we could introduce to our prayers. The first thing in the prayer is praising God - Hallo be thy name.
We can also pray for his will to take place. This means that we will have to know what God's will is in the first place. Which is for his promises to come through, which includes his kingfom on earth and heaven.

There really is no long form or short form, its just two different bible verses with an explicable verse acc to matthew and anoda acc to luke with the same exact prayer! Am sorry but this post lacks content @bniode our father is like the church national anthem it is regularly prayed espercially by kids, and i did not catch a line reminding us to say the prayer frequently.

Please am looking at this post right now, and I see no quality in it, I thought steemchurch was all about resteeming quality post, please and please don't let us start talking, there are alot of quality post I see everyday on steemchurch, that are never resteemed, how can someone say there are two versions of the lords prayer, the short and the long one, and yet it is resteemed, I think some of you are abusing your powers here on steemchurch, I urge u all to do the right thing before its too late, yet u complain of corrupt leaders in your countries, and still you bring that corruption to the steemchurch, abiye u better start doing the right thing.
