A rhetorical question is a question made to cause an effect or to make a firm assertion without expecting a reply!

It is simply a question that you ask without expecting an answer.

In many cases, the question already has an obvious answer but you have asked the question to make a point, to persuade or for literary effect.

Few examples are:

--Is the pope catholic?

--Is rain wet?

--Can fish swim?

--Do dogs bark?

Alright, let’s leave this English language lecture and enter scriptures.

There is a portion in the book of Romans where 5 Rhetorical questions were asked ‘back-to-back’.

Each of the rhetorical questions are targeted towards you believing in the ETERNAL SALVATION Jesus wrought for you without you bothering to answer the questions asked at all!

Lol…

You wanna see them?

Let’s go!

Romans 8:31-35.

Vs31: What then shall we say to these things? IF GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?

As in, if God has justified you….who can negate your salvation???

Don’t bother answering!

Vs 32: He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, HOW WILL HE NOT ALSO WITH HIM FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS?

As in, He gave His Son for you, …will He now withhold His full Salvation from you???

Don’t bother answering!

Vs 33: WHO WILL BRING A CHARGE AGAINST GOD’S ELECT? God is the one who justifies.

As in, who is that ‘bagger’ that wants to sue you to a heavenly court where your own Father is the Judge???

Don’t bother answering!

Vs 34: WHO IS THE ONE WHO CONDEMNS? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

As in, who will accuse you in a heavenly court for an offense that Christ came to earth and paid with His own blood for???

Don’t bother answering!

And finally…

Vs35: WHO WILL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?

Don’t bother answering!!!

Lol…

Therefore, with these 5 ‘back-to-back’ rhetorical questions, I therefore assure you that the question of your eternal salvation in Jesus does not require an answer from any accuser!

‘…Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free…’ (Gal 5:1)

Amen.
