Hi Everyone!
It feels like forever since I posted on this platform. Have been so busy with so many things. I'm really astonished by the progress the SteemChurch has made. A lot of great content posted by the parishioners. I was indeed marveled at some posts I came across!
I decided to make a welcome back post and I picked a very important topic which I see as very essential, not just to believers, but to humanity...
The Little Things That Matter
There's this Nursery rhyme I used to sing when I was smaller:
Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
And the pleasant land.
Thus the little minutes,
Humble though they be,
Make the mighty ages
Of eternity.
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Make our pleasant earth below
Like the heaven above.
Often times, we are very quick to complain about the inequality and injustice currently in the world today. We all try to point accusing fingers at some set of people who we feel are the reasons why there is a continuously increasing gap between the rich and the poor. We are often quick to shift all the blame towards the persons in authority. We believe its solely the fault of leaders and the very wealthy people that our societies are on the decline.
At some point I asked myself,
- Why should Children in Libya die of starvation when one Man is worth over $88b?
- Why should some children have to hawk in the streets to eat one meal while someone in that same country has billions of dollars sitting in his account.
These are the kind of questions always pop in our heads when we think about the rich-poor gap right?
The real question should be: WHAT HAVE I DONE??
You might say,
"But I don't have enough money to feed the starving children in Libya!" or "I can't provide education for these street hawkers; I'm not that rich".
You know what? You're right! You're absolutely right!
You might not be able to send a truck full of food stuff to starving children in thriving nations. You might not be able to even gather all the children hawking on the highway to feed them and sponsor their education...
BUT
You can feed that poor neighbour of yours. You can sponsor that bright little boy in your street, to school. You can provide a meal for that beggar along the road. You can take a sick child to the hospital or foot the bill someone who couldn't afford good health care service. You can help a friend at work who couldn't pay his rent.
YOU CAN DO SOMETHING! BUT HAVE YOU?
You see, its in the nature of man to crave more and more. Satisfaction is an alien term to us. This is the reason why even the richest people in the world are craving more riches. You might whisper to yourself, if I could just get a million dollars, I would be the most satisfied man on earth, but the truth is, you won't. We would always want more! Its the same with the big guys you look up to, to salvage the situation of the society. The rich will always want to get more riches, not minding the situation of the poor. So if you're waiting till you become rich before you help people in need, then I'm sorry to say, you would still be the same person when that time comes.
To make soceity better, you don't need to be the richest man alive, nor do you need to be in authority. You just need to contribute drops of water.
You want to make the world a better place? It's not a function of how big and mighty you are, its a function of how much relative change you are causing in your immediate environment.
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Make our pleasant earth below
Like the heaven above.
Start by affecting your immediate surrounding. Help people around you. Truly, if you do the little you can, in your little environment, and I do the little I can in my own field, then world would have just become a bit more pleasant.
I am very glad the steem blockchain has someone like @sirknight. He could have chosen to disregard every other person on this platform and only strive towards maximizing his gains for himself solely. But he has chosen to help people. So many minnows on this platform have found succour because of him; Many of which may have given up on steemit by this, had it not been him. Truly, if everyone here had that kind of heart, this place would truly be heaven.
IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER!
We missed you Cipherman, we are glad you are back. Little things when together, makes the greatest of things.

I agree with this,
The little efforts we make to something great around us actually matters. This made me remember the widow's mite mentioned in Jesus days. She contributed a little (but it was what she had), and it was appreciated.

Indeed, if we do the little we can in our respective spheres of influence, the world would be a better place
