OUR MISSION IS TO WIN SOULS

** The mission to win souls is sublime. (Matthew 4:19) **

From the moment Jesus began to call his first disciples, he explained to them the task that he was going to entrust to them.

We should not wait for the years to pass, to give ourselves to the task of being Souls Winners.

Jesus told the fishermen that he called to follow him: "You will be fishers of souls."

he sublime task is evident in the wonderful act, in which we become cooperators of God, (1Co 3: 9), ¨ ... because we are collaborators of God ... ¨

Only the sublime Holy Spirit can convince man of sin, of righteousness and of judgment (John 16: 7-11).

Preaching the Gospel, so that the Spirit convinces the souls, is therefore a wonderful and sublime task.

The mission to win souls is spiritual. (2 Cor. 5:20).

The biblical text confirms that evangelization has a specifically spiritual quality; "We are ambassadors for Christ."

All possibilities and human resources are basically insufficient, to lead sinners to Christ.

Only men and women filled with the Spirit can carry out the program of evangelization, which Christ has proposed to his Church (Acts 1: 8).

The natural man is not able to proclaim the saving message as Paul writes to the Corinthians (1Co 2:14), but when his mind

come to be awakened by wisdom and by the revelation of the Spirit, then understand spiritual things, (Eph 1:17).

The mission to win souls is divine. (Luke 19:10).

The main responsible for the salvation of man is God, He does not want sinners to be lost (1Tm 3: 4). He has provided for men, the instrument of the Freedom of the darkness that imprison humanity, Jesus Christ Man, (John 8:36).

When the Church undertakes the task of evangelizing, she is being guided by the Holy Spirit to carry out a divine mission, very different from the human or secular plane.

God grants us by divine grace, look with spiritual eyes the need of his work (John 4:35) ¨ do not say you are four months to the harvest ... ¨, so that we are ready without delay to fulfill the whole purpose of God (Acts 20:27) "because I have not shied away from announcing all the counsel of God ...". Only in this way can we be approved by Christ, (Ro 16:10), ¨go to Apelles approved in Christ ... ¨

The mission to win souls is urgent. (John 9: 4)

When the Holy Spirit places in the heart of the believer the urgency of the mission to win souls, then He feels moved to use all available resources to bring souls to the Kingdom of God. The urgency of the task of bringing souls is based on the Word:

a) The mission is urgent because there are few of our days on earth Psalm 90: 10,12. If we delay in realizing it, we will lose our time, Ef. 5:16

Many men mourn the lost youth because they did not know how to take advantage of their time, which is totally unrecoverable, Ecc. 12: 1.

b) The mission is urgent because, we are in recent times. The signs of the coming of Jesus multiply according to the vision of Matthew 24. Since our days on earth are finite, if today we do not work for the Kingdom of God, it will never be possible anymore.

c) The mission to win souls is urgent because, satan does not sleep Mt. 13:25. The destructive work of the enemy is causing real destruction in the world and the only refuge is Christ.

The mission to win souls is individual. (Acts 4:33)

God assigned the task of winning souls to all believers. Each child of God must consider personal and particular the obligation to win souls to be children of God. The agents of satan are scattered all over the world, their mission is pernicious and they never rest.

It is time for each believer to become aware of what it is necessary for him to do for the Lord Jesus and his Church.

We have to live according to Philippians 2:15.

The mission to win souls is deeply biblical. (Mr. 16: 15-16)

The mandate to win souls is not the result of ecclesiastical canons. No convention established that principle for the Church. It is a Divine inspiration.

The Bible teaches the importance, the need and the duty to win souls. Every Christian who reads the Bible recognizes the thousands of texts spilled throughout the written Word, which expressly recommend or indirectly emphasize the significant task of soul winning.

He who is of God hears the Word of God.

"If I announce the gospel, I do not have to glory; because necessity is imposed on me; and woe to me if I do not announce the gospel "1Co. 9:16

EVERY CHRISTIAN MUST BE A SOUL WINNER

The winner of souls must be converted. (Acts 8: 5)

The man or woman to whom God entrusts the wonderful work of winning souls, needs to be first converted to the Lord. Not merely a creature

influenced by religion or a sympathizer of our belief; but rather a person born again, Titus 3: 5; Jn. 3: 3-5.

a). We must have experienced the conversion.

Many believers are not sure of their true conversion, just as others believe they are true converts but they do not bear witness that Christ transformed them. Converted is one who has transformed from bad to good (metanoia = Metamorphosis), but as good, he does everything that the good Father sends him.

b) It is necessary to possess the joy of conversion.

All really regenerated people know from experience that there is a spiritual joy linked to conversion. Such joy is a divine force that induces us to preach the Gospel to men throughout the earth (John 4: 28-39).

c) It is necessary to have the fruits of conversion.

Genuine conversion produces fruits: these are, Abundant Life, The Ability to fight, Perseverance, Unbreakable Faith; all these are things that accompany salvation (Hebrews 6: 9) ¨ ... we are persuaded of better things that belong to salvation ... ¨, and are indispensable for those who wish to win souls.

Philip, on descending to Samaria, was being persecuted (Acts 8: 1); the faithful were scattered, but they continued to preach Christ.

The winner of souls should announce Christ. (Acts 8: 5)

Philip descended to Samaria to win souls. He only dedicated himself to preach Christ.
Who preaches philosophies, does not win souls.
Who preaches literature, does not win souls.
Who preaches religion, does not win souls.
Who preaches churches or denominations, does not win souls.

Philip preached Christ, why?

a)Only Christ saves, (Acts 4:12). He is the only way (John 14: 6). He is the perfect deliverer (John 8:36) and is the only door (John 10: 9).

b) Christ accompanies and confirms his Word to those who preach his name, (Mark 16:20). Each time Philip went to preach, Christ confirmed that preaching with great signs.

c) Christ is the head of the church (Eph 1:22). The theme of the soul winner is not the church as a body, but the head of the church.

d). Christ will return, Jn. 14:18, we must preach of the one who will return. No world religion possesses such a message. No sect possesses such hope. Every time someone preaches Christ, he talks about his coming. That comforts the hearts, encourages the preacher and motivates the sinner to accept Christ, (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

The winner of souls must be spiritual. (Acts 8: 6-7)

Paul wrote to the Corinthians about the three men situated on the spiritual plane: natural, carnal and spiritual man.

The natural man does not know God, the carnal man does not have the strength to obey God and the spiritual man who walks with God, 1Co.2: 14-15; 3: 1-2.

The latter is the ideal soul winner. In the measure that he walks with God, God is inducing him to win more souls for his Kingdom, Acts. 26:18.

What does it mean to be spiritual?

a). Spiritual man is full of the Spirit.

Spirituality is not noise, nor sensationalism, nor spectacle; The Spirit of God has more interest than any other person in the salvation of souls, that is why every believer filled with the Holy Spirit is a zealous preacher of the Gospel and a brave winner of souls.

b) The spiritual man is led by the Holy Spirit. Ps. 48:14.

When a man is directed by himself, he lives in the need of large and selected auditoriums; but when the Spirit directs the spiritual man, he seeks the souls in need of God, be it in the city or the countryside, be it in a luxurious hotel or in a simple house of cane.

The most famous sermon of Jesus was addressed to one person, Nicodemus, Jn. 3. One of the most beautiful interviews in the Bible was made in a scorching sun in the vicinity of a well, Jn. Four.

c) The spiritual man is dominated by the Spirit.

Being dominated by the Spirit does not mean that our faculties lose control and become an automaton of the Spirit.

The dominion of the Holy Spirit consists in a conscious and progressive submission on the part of the believer, in reference to his Word. When a believer is dominated by the Spirit, his whole being remains full of divine power and the ability to do great works promised by Jesus.

This is how miracles, signs and wonders happen to Glory of God.

The winner of souls must know the Bible. (Acts 8: 30-35)

Philip knew the Word of God.

He knew for himself and knew for others, he said: "You understand what you read", was the question that led the illustrious traveler to be more interested in what he read in the scroll (the Bible).

What does it mean to know the Bible?

a) The believer who reads the Bible must meditate on it day and night (Joshua 1: 8).

b) He who meditates on the Bible must carefully keep everything written in it (Psalm 119: 11).

c) The believer who keeps what is in the Bible, strives to proclaim its truths, (2Tm 4:21).

d) The believer who announces the Word of God strives to fulfill all that is commanded in it (Psalm 119: 72).

The winner of souls must be obedient. (Acts 8: 5-14-26-27-40)

When we read the verses mentioned above, we can observe the spirit of obedience that was in the heart of Philip. This is the obedience to the faith that every call must have, Ro. 1: 5 Whoever wants to win souls must enter the path of obedience.

Who should we obey?

a) To the Word of God. "Go ... and preach ... teaching them" (Matthew 28: 19-20).

b) To the special revelation of the Holy Spirit. Many times God speaks with us in a special way, Hebrews 1: 1, it is necessary to understand that God will only use us to the extent that we obey divine revelation, Gen. 6:22; Rev. 22:14; Stg. 1:25.

So it was with Paul and with Philip, whom we took as reference, he obeyed God when he sent him to Samaria, when he sent him to Gaza and then to Azoto.

The obedient man has no preference, his preference is to obey the voice of God.

The winner of souls must possess vision. (John 4:35)

The spiritual vision is a supreme secret in the life of those who wish to bring souls to Christ. Jesus commanded his disciples to raise their eyes, to refer to their spiritual eyes to see, that this crowd was ready for the harvest, but that they walked like sheep without a shepherd.

a)The local vision Jerusalem

It is the vision of the house itself, the workplace, the street, the place of study. Jesus preached his gospel in his own city. This is the Jerusalem of each one of us.

Many who think to leave for the missionary field, must first be aware that the souls are around them, then the vision will be expanded and more souls will be seen and desired by the winner of souls.

b) The regional and national vision. Judea

Raising our eyes beyond the local vision, this is the province, the state, the region, the county, that is, the area adjacent to the place of our residence.

c) The special vision Samaria

Each place is below God's plan to receive the Word.

It was the capital of the kingdom of Israel and later, administrative center for the foreign powers that one after another dominated the region; Acab finished the building that his father Onri started and built a temple in Baal in Samaria.

Samaria, are the places that are always linked to the "domination and sin", are those groups of drug addicts, alcoholics, people of bad living.

d).The world view The rest of the world.

The vision of the white fields is only completed when the sower sees the whole world as his field.

God is not a nationalist.
God is not nominationalist.
God does not suffer limitations.

Jonah for ethics, patriotism or nationalism was the target of a tragic experience of spending three days in the belly of a fish, (dark place, viscous, smelly, tight), speaks of a kind of suffering. Therefore, if we have to suffer, we suffer doing the work of God, because He will be with us to the end.

In Psalm 2: 7, it is written, "Ask me and I will give you the nations."

Reflection:

The primitive church was full of that same passion. She led the believers to have everything in common, Hch. 4:32, she moved the interests of all the brothers, Hch. 4:33, she mobilized all the brothers daily, who went in and out through the streets and through the houses preaching Jesus Christ, Acts. 5:42

The church of our days, needs to know the passion of the first days. The pulpits of these times, need to be salted with the salt of tears that are shed by the clamor in favor of lost souls.
