By Two Immutable Things

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us (Heb. 6:18 KJV)

The inheritance we have in Christ has been guaranteed by God Himself by two immutable things. These two things become evident in the context of Hebrews 6:18. They are His promise and His oath. His promise, sealed by an oath more than settles every doubt we might ever have.

God’s promise is backed by the integrity of His personality and His Word. Creation is sustained by His Word, and should He be unfaithful, the entire universe will collapse. His promise is sure. He has promised that He will raise us up and we shall share His glory in the world to come. He has given us His Spirit as a guarantee or downpayment to assure us that He means business!

He went a step further to seal that promise with an oath. It is as though God signed our paperwork twice to indicate that He will certainly do what He has promised. By these two immutable things, the promise and the oath, the scripture says we should have a strong consolation. You are in very safe hands. You can rest in the faithfulness and integrity of your Savior.

What are the two immutable things in Heb. 6:18 above? Why is it essential for us to be so assured of God’s Word?

God’s Word is sure. You can safely set your life on it. There will be moments in life that it might appear as though what He said will not come to pass. When these times come, know that you have a double signature from God to guarantee His Word. Hold on to the Word and the victory will be ultimately yours.

You are right @debty ....even the bible says in Habakkus 2:3 ...."For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but it will speak, and it will not lie. Thought it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry"
Thanks @debty for sharing.
