Be thankful to God

It Is yet another day the Lord has made and we should be glad in it. Today I am filled with thanks for all that the Lord has done for me, my family and you my dear friend. There are many things that we should be thankful for that most times we kind of ignore.

The bible has made it clear that we should be thankful in all situations. Whether good or bad. For there is one thing I know and that's that there is no mistake in anything God is accomplishing in the lives of his children. They all have a blissful end.

"Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

It's said in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that we should "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" and not so long ago I made a series on the will of God where this verse came into view. We saw that it's amongst the will of God given in black and white in the scriptures.

There are many things we should be thankful for.

1. Salvation

Now I think everyone who has come to the saving knowledge of Christ and has the new life in him or her knows for sure that salvation is unachievable by the sinner. The sinner has no capacity to win the favor of God otherwise it would cease to be by grace.

God has made it possible for sinners like you and me to have a right standing with him. The kind of relationship our forefather Adam had with him which was destroyed by his sin has been restored. Now we live as the children of the Most High. This is an extraordinary reality. Knowing that you have been given something your soul long for but could never achieve on its own in all of eternity. That this man and God Jesus Christ came from his throne, became a servant, bore our sins and died a shameful death outside the city for the propitiation of our sins.

Why shouldn't I be thankful for this? Is there anyone worthy of adoration than God? An eternity spent in praise and adoration cannot satisfy the beauty of such an unmatched grace.

2. Sanctification and physical protection

Now I thought it wise to combine these two because as sanctification refers to the spiritual protection from this world and its pleasures, physical protection grants us the protection we need for our flesh. Sanctification is also not possible without the power of the Holy Ghost. We are told to put to death the desires of the flesh so that we can live, Romans 8:13, and this cannot be achieved without the Holy Ghost.

"Psalms 4:8 In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For thou, Jehovah, alone makest me dwell in safety." The fact that you are reading this message means that you slept and awoke just as you've been doing every day. I know of many people who slept and never woke up in the morning. So it's very important to give thanks to God knowing that he is the One who gives and takes. This is why you should bless his name for giving you today. We don't buy breathe of life. We don't have control over our cells but they work in a certain fashion to give us the strength to go about our daily activities.

These are not the only reason you should be thankful to God dear reader. Don't wait for something so-called "mind-blowing" in order to give thanks to his name. The spiritual blessing he has given to us is enough to blow our minds. Let's open our eyes and see what the Lord has done. His grace and mercies are new every morning, such an inexhaustible grace he gives. Are you not thankful?
