Leadership and Anointing
Psalm 23:5
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Some people hide behind the fact that they have been previously anointed, and because of this, pre-suppose that they don't need any extra anointing. The truth is that God gives extra anointing to those whom he desire to give extra glory and blessings.
Perhaps one has discovered that God has ordained him to be great; one still needs to wait for the anointing. The fact that God has planted the seed of greatness in ones life does not mean that one have arrived. One needs the anointing to fulfil his vision and achieve his destiny.
The new anointing that God is going to add to ones life is going to complete what He has started in his life. One of the reasons why the anointing is so crucial is that whatever is anointed cannot be opposed by the enemy.
2 Samuel 5:1-3
All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. 2 In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’”
3 When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
From reading the scriptures, we've understood that David wasn't anointed once, or twice, but three times. Whenever God decides to favour a person, and He decides to illustrate this by anointing the person whom He has chosen over and over again, His intention is to completely silence the enemy and bestow victory and blessings to His people.
God gives extra anointing to those whom He wants to give extra glory and blessings. The moment God anoints you, a command by decree goes out from His throne room to back you up. All negative forces of the universe are commanded to stay clear of the anointed.
Psalm 105:14-15
”He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he
reproved longs for their sakes; Saying, Touch
not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”
Sadly, not all heads are ripe to receive the anointing. There were many children in the family of Jesse, but just one of them received the anointing.
As a leader, you can't decide to do whatever you feel like doing and still expect to receive God's anointing. The anointing of God is readily available for those who qualify or it. Are you one of them? Each of the sons of Jesse was raring to receive the anointing, but all their heads except that of David were declined.
The heads of the seven sons of Jesse probably refused the anointing because God knew certain things about them, which maybe, no one knew. Are there things God knows about you which people do not know? If there are such negative things, you can be sure you'll be ineligible when it matters most.
When God places His oil of anointing on your head

This is why as leaders, we need the holy spirit.The Holy Spirit inside you is like the engine of the train where the power to control and propel comes from. For example, you could be listening to some teachings, and the verses that you hear confirm what you know on the inside. What 1 John 2:27 is saying is: You don’t need anyone to teach you to know God’s leading. The Holy Spirit will teach you.
