This is a very important topic which I will be discussing with every steemian.

And Joshua adjured them at that time,saying,Cursed be the man before the LORD,that riseth up and buildeth the city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn,and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

WHAT IS CURSE?

Curse according to Oxford Dictionary is a rude or offensive word or phrase that some people use when they are very angry.

It can also mean a word or phrase that has a magic power to make something bad happen.

Curse is very powerful that if it did not manifest as at when you utter a word,it may come to pass when you don't expect it,you would have forgotten you said such thing then. That is why it is very good to always say positive thing rather than saying negative thing to yourself or people around you.

Curse carries weight and act immediately you say it because Satan is always around expecting you to say words that are bad and immediately help to stamp it in the spiritual realm.

That is why when people are talking,they would say, Talk silently because the wall has ear. There are spirits everywhere listening to every conversation of people and are ready to help you bring it to pass whatever that comes from your mouth.

I will be mentioning some kinds of curses we have. They are;

• Hidden curse
  This is a kind of curse that you don't know who made the pronouncement and you find yourself sharing from it.

1Kings 16:34,
In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn,and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub,according to the word of the LORD,which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

Let me take you back to our Bible text in Joshua 6:26, there,Joshua made a curse that whoever will build Jericho will lose his children in it. He said when he is building the wall,his firstborn will die and when he is about to build the gates of the city,his last son will also die. What a curse this is.

Hiel was from Bethelite,he came to settle down in another land and help build the city but he never knew a curse has been mounted there,perhaps no one told him about it or maybe they even told him but he chose to turn deaf ears and continue with it. When he was building the wall, his firstborn died,so also his last born also died too. What a calamity.

Let me buttress a little,Hiel was from Bethel and we were told that Bethel means "The house of God" which means Hiel was a man of God. But how come the curse was able to manifest on him? Why didn't it happens in the last 4 generations before him? At least we have 4 books written after Joshua,which are Judges, Ruth, 1Samuel, 2Samuel. If we have to take these books as generations,it means four generations have passed before it now came to manifest in the fifth generations where Hiel came to sojourn. This is what we call hidden curse.

Most people have gone to stay where someone has placed a curse in that land,and when they don't make research or ask from God,they will be a victim of such. Had it been Hiel confirmed from God before he went there or even before building it,perhaps God would have told him not to. People only implicate themselves by not making enquiries from God before taking any steps as to where they should go to,they go there to settle only to become wretched in life by the cursed being placed by another person in that land.

• Self imposed curse
  This is very dangerous to a person. This type of curse is the one made by the fellow with his mouth. This is caused when they are hurt or harm in a way,and they implicate themselves by cursing their self. Some people will say "Over my dead body will you succeed " and because you have said that,the person that is affected will pray that God should destroy everyone that is against his progress,and when such fellow dies,it is called self imposed curse because he killed himself.

Some will even go to the extent of making promises that unless we both get married,before we can have children, and if those people never get married in one way in the future,they will never give birth because of what they have said in the past which they don't know or might have forgotten.

When you are angry,you don't curse yourself or curse another person. Because someone has used and dumped you,that will make you say you will never get married again. Watch your tongue because it is what you say that will come to pass.

Everything that has to do with life proceedeth out of the mouth. Whatever you use your mouth to say,that is what will happen.

• Hereditary curse
  This is another type of curse and it is done in the house. For example,a house that lays a curse that " no one will reach 20 years before they die" and this happens till 3,4,5 generations if it is not cancelled. Another curse is when they say "When it is time for someone to be enjoying his wealth,he or she will die" If the fellow so not encounter God immediately, that is how it will continue till all the generations are wiped off from the earth.

The power of the tongue

Good and Evil comes from the tongue, words of mouth can redesign someone's life. Whatever you say with your mouth,that is what will happen.

Proverbs 18:21,
Death and Life are in the power of the tongue:and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Remember what you pronounce with your mouth will surely come to pass,so watch your tongue. You can prophecy with the tongue and also at the same time destroy your destiny with your tongue. They say where legs have not been,the tongue is already there.

It is what you want in your life,that will come to pass.
If you want life,so shall it be for you and if you want poverty,it is with the same tongue you will use. Be careful because Satan is always going around waiting for you to get angry and utter that negative word and then stamp it for you.

Finally, We need to watch our tongues and be calm while speaking. May the Lord help us say and use the right word. Amen.
