Again and again, my instructor to learn to drive said these words: "Look straight ahead." This was his way of telling me to look at the horizon, not only in what surrounded me at a little distance. Drivers who pass looking to the right or left are very likely to end up in a ditch.
Satan is adept at provoking "distractions along the way" that tempt us to look at him instead of looking at Jesus. If he can get our attention, he is likely to get us out of the way and delay our spiritual progress. He even tried to do it with the same Jesus!
After Jesus was baptized, Satan tried to lead him astray by proposing "better" things to carry out God's work. He told him if it was the Son of God to throw himself from a high place in the temple (Luke 4: 9-11). But Jesus knew that the way to prove it would be by voluntarily surrendering to the cross, and not by throwing himself from a tall building. Therefore, he answered: "You shall not tempt the Lord your God" (v.12). Our Lord Jesus Christ had already set his sights on our redemption and knew that he could not make it real if he let himself be tempted and Satan will succeed in taking a shortcut that would make him avoid the cross.
In our daily walk we will get many challenges, stumbles, temptations that Satan will use to try to turn our eyes away from our redeemer Jesus. The way to avoid falling into spiritual ditches is to keep your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of the faith (Hebrews 12: 2) and not to look, even out of the corner of your eye, at the distractions of Satan.

Dear friend, brother reader. Let us keep our eyes focused on the wonderful work of the cross, we obtained an extraordinary and overwhelming victory over all strength and work of darkness, Satan should not and should never be within our visual field, but be far behind us.
