Distinction between Esau and Jacob

It is necessary we portray a clear-cut distinction between the occupation of Esau and Jacob. The emphasis is not just on the occupation per say, but on their attitude, approach or mentality towards their occupation.

The word cunning was used in describing Esau while plain in describing Jacob. According to the Oxford Advance Learner's Dictionary, cunning means "able to get what you want in a clever way, especially by tricking or deceiving somebody". It also means to be "clever and skillful". Plain means "not trying to trick anyone; honest and direct". That is, to be simple and quiet.

Esau was a cunning hunter while Jacob was a plain man. Esau only employed trick or skill in hunting for animals but never reserved for the rainy day. Beloved, most of us will find it a problem to accept this inherent nature of Esau and Jacob. These natures of theirs will later have a spell on their destiny. Dear, just patiently follow me in this prophetic adventure for all your doubts to be cleared.

Esau had a consumer's mentality while Jacob has a producer's mentality. Esau believes in the now while Jacob believes in the future. Esau was always out hunting and killing animals for food

while Jacob was always dwelling in tents, cultivating seeds and rearing livestock. Esau had the ability to convert forests into deserts while Jacob had the ability to convert seeds intoforest or harvest.

See, Esau and Jacob were prophetic seeds that needed to cultivate themselves in the soil of opportunities. Both had opportunities, but their destinies are determinant on how wise they sow.

Parental Attachment or Love for their Occupation
And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebecca loved Jacob.

Genesis 25:28
Whoa! This verse portrays emphatically that Isaac loved Esau, his first-born; because he normally profits from his hunting adventure. He was always having a great deal with the venison of Esau. See, Papa Isaac will sit down in the morning at home, crossed his leg; and warming his appetite for Esau's venison:

"Do you know why, I love my first son Esau; because I do enjoy the roasted meat from his hunting adventure. I always feel good whenever I have a taste of it. In fact, it makes me feel youthful"; I could hear him say to a friend.

See, Isaac love for Esau was based on physical from his son. "As long as I continue to profit from his venison, so is my love for him", I could hear say. His love was conditional.

"...because he did eat of his venison..." permit me to say here: no venison, no love. Nothing goes for anything syndrome was at work in Isaac.

Beloved, are there not people that love you because of what they are profiting from you? Could you pause and ask yourself this question. Why does your boss love you? Have you ever wondered why that girl or boy loves you? Why does your pastor love you? Why are people coming around you? Well, ponder on this. Is it because of a selfish motive or a true motive?
See, have you not come across people that loved you because they normally benefit or even exploit you. The love continues to increase as long as their selfish interests
are being satisfied. Thus, failure to continuing satisfying their selfish interest results in a decline of their love for you.

The Bible declares categorically in the book of Proverbs 14:20 "...But the rich hath many friends"
I ask you married woman a question, is your love for your husband only resident on the fact that he continues to provide for the family needs? So, what happens when he looses his job or flop in his business? Woman! Woman!! DO you have a conditional love for your husband?

See, anyone that loves you because you could satisfy his or her needs, is selfish . The Bible speaking expressly that:
But God cominendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ diedfor us.
Romans 5:8 Thus, being sinners, we where enemies of God and separated from the commonwealth of Israel. But because of Christ uncompromising love, He died for us.

Beloved, I enjoin you to be spent for the cause of your brother. Do well to esteem others better than yourself (Philippians 2:3). Glory!
Now, let's move further,
But Rebecca loved Jacob". Verse 28b

Why did Rebecca love Jacob? Rebecca love for Jacob was based on revelation. That is, she loved Jacob based on the revelation ofJacob's destiny. And the Lord said unto her, two nations are in thy womb, and two manners of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder esau serve the younger.
Genesis 25:2a

Her love for Jacob was resident in the picture she had captured of Jacob's future. She was tied to the future manifestation of Jacob. She had great attachment for spiritual things. It is not that she hated Esau her first son, while she loved Jacob as it were. Their end motivated her.
Solomon was speaking that:
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof...
