THE FAITH OF A CHILD

The interesting thing to me is in neither of those accounts does Jesus actually say to emulate children's "faith". He simply says that we are to "become like children." So is the faith piece really what he wants us to model from children? Or is there something deeper to it?
To go before God as a child is to go before God stripped of our sins and doubts, full of wide-eyed inspiration that comes from total faith.

Is God going to be there when I need Him? A child would say, “Yes!”

To go before God as a child is to expect awe-inspiring greatness.

Let’s visit Matthew 18:3 again.
Jesus said, unless you change and become like a child.
Matthew 18:2-4 New International Version (NIV)
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

One of the greatest lessons to learn from little children is that they don’t worry about anything. This is the way God expects us to relate with Him; relaxing and putting all matters in His care, knowing that it will always end up in our best interests. Nothing good can be achieved when we trust only in mistake or another. Your faith in God must be real. A father will promise his son an aeroplane even though the man does not own a bicycle, yet the child believes, because his father said so.

Faith in God is very vital to our walk as Christians. Jesus says in Luke 18:17, “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Oh, to have the faith of a child! If only I too would fall on my knees before Jesus instead of trying to tackle all of life's challenges on my own. After all, he knows the end from the beginning, his wisdoms exceeds all others, his power is infinite, and his desire is for our ultimate good. Philippians 4:6–7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
