The Mandate Of Thanksgiving

Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever. (Psalms 106:1)

God is good and merciful. He has done great and marvellous things for us. For this, we owe Him our gratefulness and also we are to praise and thank Him for who He is. Thanksgiving is a mandate given to us by God and it is indeed very crucial. Thanksgiving triggers God to do more.

Why is the mandate of thanksgiving crucial?

• It is a devotion we are exhorted to cultivate and maintain always.

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night." (Psalms 92:1-2).

Another Verse of the Scripture says;

"Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms." (Psalms 95:2-3)

• It is a celebration we all should observe.

(Psalms 68:25 - 26) The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels. Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.

• It is an invocation we need to raise unto God.

(Psalms 116:17) I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

• Thanksgiving is an expectation God has that must not fail.

(Luke 17:17-18) And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

Beloved, God wants you to observe and offer your thanksgiving to Him. Do not fail in your thanksgiving to God, He deserves it.
