Several years ago I suffered many losses and I felt overwhelmed and discouraged. During those months I committed myself not to abandon my habit of praising God every morning. There were mornings when I knelt and cried while listening to songs of adoration. By entrusting my tears and my trust to God, my sadness was relieved and my faith strengthened. Like Job, I could say: "The LORD has given and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD ". As I worshiped him on my knees every morning, God's presence was more real and I felt consolation in the midst of my sorrow.
Here are some suggestions to praise God in the midst of pain, sadness and discouragement:
Remember the past
Praising God for the faithfulness that was in the past generates hope that you will once again demonstrate your fidelity in the present and in the future.
Pours tears
We are not always happy when we praise God. There's nothing wrong with crying when we're sad. Sometimes crying is part of our worship.
Have "emergency verses" on hand
In moments of sadness, it is a consolation to praise God using a verse known and special to you. Some of my favorites are Psalms 34, 46 and 91, and John 15.
Take a walk to worship: Walking releases endorphins and worship strengthens faith. If you combine them, it will lift your spirits.
Make a thank-you list
This I learned during a particularly difficult time. Every night before going to sleep, I recorded 3 to 5 things that had happened that day for which I felt grateful. After praising God for each one, I could sleep more animated. Becky Harling
When the apostle Paul says : "Be filled with the joy of the Lord always," he does not mean to do it only when everything is going well. Even when the situation is very bad, the Bible teaches us that we can be happy if we follow this simple strategy:
Do not worry about anything
worrying does not improve the situation. It's like paddling against the current. And preocupons are not born with that characteristic. Rather it is a conditioned reaction. We learn it from our parents or from our friends. We learn it through lived experiences. The good thing is that if we can learn it and adopt it, we can also unlearn it.
How do we unlearn it? Jesus says in Matthew 6:34: "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, which will have its own anxieties. Every day he already has his problems. "[3] That is, do not open the umbrella until it starts to rain. Live one day at a time.
Pray for everything
Instead of worrying, use your time to pray. If you pray as much as you care, you would have far fewer worries. Does God care about car dues? Yes. You are interested in every detail of your life. That means you can entrust all your problems to God.
Think of good things
If you want to reduce the level of stress in your life, you must adopt new thoughts, because thoughts generate emotions. And emotions determine actions. The Bible teaches that if you want to transform your life, you should think about other things.
This requires a deliberate and conscious decision to start thinking about good things. We must decide that we are going to think about the positive and the Word of God.
What happens when we do not worry, we pray for everything giving thanks and we focus on the good? Paul says that "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will take care of your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"
Thank God for everything: When you pray, pray with gratitude. The healthiest emotion is not love but gratitude. It even strengthens the immune system. It gives us resistance to stress and makes us less susceptible to diseases. Those who are grateful are happy. But the ungrateful are miserable, because nothing makes them happy. They are never satisfied. Nothing is enough. So, if you cultivate gratitude in your life and get used to giving thanks for everything, you will reduce the level of stress in your life.
We all get stressed and we need someone to help us alleviate that burden. They can be the inspiring words of a close friend, the music, or the best: God. Whatever the circumstances, we can always trust that God will be faithful.
God will enlighten us and, when we ask him, he will help us overcome the bad moments. If you are having a bad day today, or if you know someone is wrong, this can relieve you.
