Acknowledging and focusing on every good thing that is in you is a good virtue to have and hone. In the heat of the #gratitude challenge by esteemed @tojukaka, I'll like to admonish you that are seeing this post of mine to acknowledge the great things about you, forget about your flaws and focus on your strengths, forget about the failures and focus on your success, forget about the challenges and focus on the victory at the end of the tunnel
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. - Philemon 1:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
The (negative) events in this present world come across as distracting so as not to see the good in life in its entirety, the same applies to our lives. We tend to focus on the things we don't have and forget the "many things" we have. This is because we have not taken time to sit down and take stock of these good things in us and acknowledge them.
To acknowledge is to become aware/to have knowledge/to accept/to admit the existence of something. Take note of the phrase “…existence of something” as it implies that the “good thing” is already in existence, it is there, no need to look outside. Look inwards and see the good things in you, then acknowledge them by being conscious of these good things.
Every good thing in you in Christ Jesus…
There are default “good things” in you in Christ Jesus – these are the things that are embedded in the gift of salvation. These are the things that being saved (by confessing the Lordship of Jesus) has given us by default, indeed salvation is a total package. Contained in the package are:
- Eternal life – the God-kind of life
- The gift of the Holy Spirit
- Prosperity
- Peace that supersedes all human understanding
- Joy unspeakable full of glory
- Divine health
How about the good qualities in you?
These are extra qualities you have or qualities you've developed with time:
- Your smile
- Your looks
- Your talents (may be your sweet voice like mine)
- The way you walk
- The way you talk
- Your "long hair"**
- Your good attitude
- Your liberality
As you go about the #gratitude day challenge, take out time to look inwards, find the good things in you acknowledge these things and be grateful!
