Psa 105:19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

God had me read Psalms 105 every day for a month. One of the main things I got from reading this psalm I am about to share here.

The Word of God tried Joseph until the Time the Word came to pass.

So many times we see a promise in the Bible or we actually have a promise that God has spoken into our hearts and we know it was God. But then a period of time passes and it gets to the point where it seems impossible for it to ever happen. Joseph was a dreamer! He had from an early age had dreams of what would happen to him in the future. These were God given dreams, but everything in Joseph’s life seem to be going opposite of what the Word of the Lord said.

This is the Way of the Lord with His people

ONE OF JOSEPH’S DREAMS

Gen 37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
Gen 37:6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
Gen 37:7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf

If you have God inspired dreams, even your family can turn on you.

My point is just to highlight that Joseph had a dream at a very early age.
Then

• Joseph’s brothers act like Joseph is killed, soak his coat in blood and tell their father Joseph is dead
• Joseph is sold by his brother as a slave
• These people sell Joseph again
• It seems Joseph has made an improvement in his circumstances and now he is a trusted servant in Potiphar’s house.
• Joseph is falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife for sexual advances.
• Potiphar is the chief executioner.
• Joseph is put in jail

There seems to be no way God’s promise will be fulfilled.

Psa 105:17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
Psa 105:18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron

Sometimes we go through very difficult times. Even suffer along the way. The question is, do we still believe the Word of the Lord?

His Word Tests and Tries us.

Psa 105:19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

If we go into the story farther, we see Joseph is in jail and he interprets two dreams. Later the king had a dream that no one could interpret and Joseph was brought out of jail and properly interpreted the kings dream.

The fulfillment of the Word of the Lord

Psa 105:20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
Psa 105:21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

God waited until Abraham was around 100 years old and his wife was 90, before He gave them the promised child Isaac. God had promised, but time went by and everything started to look like it woukd never happen. “Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.”

This is the way God Works!

But in one day, Joseph was taken from prison and made 2nd in command over the most powerful nation on the earth, at that time.

If God has given you a promise, that promise will test you. It will check your heart and it’s capacity to believe even when things go opposite, can you still believe the promise?

If God has made you a promise, He is able, no matter how impossible things look. He has a day when His promise will come forth in your life. Healing in your body, giving a child to you, fruitful ministry. The Bible says all of the promises in the Bible are yes and amen in Jesus.
