At the point of seeing this title, you may hoard in your heart a question. You may probably want to ask if pain has to be involved anytime we talk about growth. To clear the air, I'did say Yes , growth is indeed a painful process.
The God we serve is a loving God and after giving us a we want , we tend to sometimes sway away from His original purposes for us. It's not witchcraft, it's just human nature. Therefore because doesn't want the enemies to get hold of you and lose you forever, He has to get your attention. Therefore , God allows some hurdles in your way that will make you remember Him again. See what David has to say in Psalm 119 vs 71;
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes
He realised that those experiences God gives Him is to make Him know God more. It is to make Him draw closer to God and acquaint Himself with His commands.
The truth of the matter is that what we fear most at times is what we often need the most. God understands this, and this is why He allows somethings to come our way so as to make us stronger and get better.
A football player who trains everyday will always be better than one who seldom does it. This is because the player will have learned endurance and gotten more strenght whereas the other will will clearly lack both. Growth as well as strenght comes through steady efforts and struggles.
Another very important thing you should take note of is that growth and comfort do not relate in any means. There is no way you will Desire growth and stay in a place where you are comfortable. You must have to leave your comfort Zone , travel distances, think, stress your reasoning faculty and get your Brains charged. When it comes to growth, your patience is tested. How long the growth comes shouldn't be your problem, your target should be that the growth came in the long run.
Meet successful people in the world and they will tell you that there was a time all they needed was to keep moving despite how unfavourable the journey seemed. There were times they had to adapt to the new environment they finds themselves as well as adapt to their new selves. There were times they had to do revisions and make some changes to suit their journey. However , one thing was common among all of them. They never gave up the struggle.
Therefore you must take after them if you really want to get successful and grow all round. Philippians 3 vs 10 says;
That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death
Even Christ had to go through the painful process of growth and it is logical to think that the reason why you are currently in that Lane is so that you can grow and become better individuals.
So yea I know that
"GROWTH IS A PAINFUL PROCESS, BUT STICK TO IT".
You cannot live the Christian life apart from the power of the Holy Spirit. The New Testament talks about people who have a form of godliness, but they deny its power (2 Tim. 3:5). That kind of religion is rather like the Volkswagen pulling the plane. It takes a great effort, but it’s ultimately futile; it will never fly! Jesus said “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
There is a kind of effort that is completely futile, but there is also a kind of effort that is wonderfully fruitful, and that is what Peter is talking about here: “For this very reason…” (v5). In the light of the gospel—because you participate in the divine nature and Christ has released you from Satan’s chains—you are in a position to act. Use the power that you have been given. Fire up these great engines and fly!
Why some Christians never seem to grow
Our title this morning is “Everything You Need For Growth,” and Peter’s message is that in Christ you have everything you need for a thriving, productive, and growing Christian life. But if God has provided everything we need for life and godliness, why is it that some Christians never seem to grow?
There are Christian people who never seem to make any progress. They don’t have much joy. Their lives don’t seem to lead to anything. Peter says that they seem “ineffective and unproductive in their knowledge of Jesus Christ” (v8). Why is that?
If you want to grow in the Christian life, Peter says that there are certain things you must do. There are certain things that you must pursue in the power of the Spirit and “if you possess these things in increasing measure they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (v8).

Many people refuse to grow because it's a painful process. Nothing good comes easy, we can't remain in a comfort zone and expect to grow.
We need to grow everyday, hence, we will have some painful experience.

Wow, i got a great moral lesson from this post. Indeed what we want the most is what we fear to have. If we want to grow, we need to sacrifices. Great men saxrified and they were blessed. Some people today, are sared to give what they have, they think what if i give today, what we i have tomorow, they have to understand that Christ knoweth tomorow.

Reason why many people refuse to grow is because of how painful and tasking the process is
However that's the process that builds us and keeps us strong
