WHAT LOVE IS AND WHAT LOVE IS NOT.

First the meaning of love

1. Strong affection.

A profound and caring affection towards someone.

1. A feeling of intense attraction towards someone.

2. A feeling of care and mercy towards people or living beings in general.

3. A deep or abiding liking for something

Lust

Meaning:- A feeling of strong desire, especially such a feeling driven by sexual arousal.

A general want or longing, not necessarily sexual.

Infatuation

Meaning:-An unreasoning love for or sexual attraction.

Having seen the difference in the three we can now say Love is of God and the rest is from the devil.

Now the qualities of love according 1st Corinthians 13 vs 4-8:-

1. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

2. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

3. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

4. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

5. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

From the above passage we can see that lust and infatuation does not and can never have such good qualities as love. So ah from today we should be able to different between love,lust, and infatuation. Not only that but also to know when someone loves us ginuenely and to know when someone is lusting after you or maybe being mere infatuated by your beauty just like potiphars wife did to Joseph according to Genesis 39 vs 6 and 7

Message Bible

6-7 Joseph was a strikingly handsome man. As time went on, his master’s wife became infatuated with Joseph and one day said, “Sleep with me.”

Take note:- She didn't love him,she was only infatuated why because she never knew God. The Bible has says it all in 1st John 4verse 8

King James Version

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Message Bible

The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love.
