All religions preach that we should be kind to animals and not be harsh since animals can't communicate when they're being mistreated. However, in many developing countries, lack of resources or monetary means lead the people, mostly labors to purchase donkey carts.
These donkeys aren't given proper food, mostly forced to eat out of piles of garbage. They are beaten with sticks by the owners when they don't move fast enough. Sometimes there ropes are tied down too tightly that it ends up scarring them. They are forced to travel on roads all day where they encounter pollution emitted from vehicles.
Not only this, but donkey cart racing, bull racing are a common practice in Pakistan which takes place for the entertainment of people and so some can earn a few rupees or so by placing bets on their animals. It mostly happens in rural areas. Such practices should be eradicated at once keeping in mind the core values and command of Islam.
It is said that even the animals purchased on Eid ( Muslim's event) should be dealt with love, care and respect. Some kids start holding races amongst their animals and then the animal is distressed. It is said that when slaughtering them, sharp knives should be used so they can be sacrificed with ease and don't feel unnecessary pain.
Islam is seen as a violent religion by non Muslims for various reasons. But so is not the case. Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) would command his army not to harm animals of the enemy even when there was a war going on.
Hence, we should be kind towards animals and encourage others also and reprimand those who show inhumanity towards them.
