Now? – Exodus 14:29-31

But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day YHWH saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the great power YHWH displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared YHWH and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Is there anything in these verses that just strikes you as unusual? When I was reading these verses, it was the last verse that made me pause and almost laugh. It says “And when the Israelites saw the great power YHWH displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared YHWH and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”

So what’s so funny about this? With all they saw from the hand of YHWH back in Egypt, why couldn’t they believe like this before they saw the Egyptians dead on the shore? Now, before we start cutting them down for their lack of faith, search your heart to see if you are the same.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Maybe up until this point, they were still wondering if these fearful acts of God could be natural events... you know plague and pestilence, hail and darkness, frogs and lice. But the sea parting and drowning the Egyptian army? Ok, now they believe.

Could be...hard to imagine that, knowing that for some of the plagues only affected the Egyptians and not them!

How was your Passover and Unleavened Bread?

The holy days were great, we talked a little about it in the B&L show.

That's good! I started your show yesterday but have not made it all the way through it yet! I will today!

haha! howdy sir simms50! yes I've always been baffled by the way they acted towards God, just amazing. For some reason they were very stubborn. I have a hard time believing that I would be like that after seeing all the miracles that they did.
That's a cool painting, by the way..I always see paintings of the parting of the sea but I've never seen one showing the
aftermath and celebration.

I agree about the painting...when I saw that I had to use it! I also realize that in reality this picture is missing something...."Egyptians lying dead on the shore"

haha! I thought about that! This was the mild version that wouldn't traumatize little kids.
