These sins would kill you!!

Yes you read the title right, these sins will destroy you, the seven deadly sins.
Good day parishioners of the steem church, today I'd be talking about the little things that we nay not consider when talking about sin but are actually the ones that lead to more sins. They are called the seven deadly sins.

The seven deadly sins according to Wikipedia;

The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a grouping and classification of vices within Christian teachings. Behaviours or habits are classified under this category if they directly give birth to other immoralities.
This means that these sins give birth to or give rise to other or more sin. Now what are these sins?

LUST

Lust is a strong desire for something. Lust could be strong sexual feelings, lust for material things or lust for power.

Is there anything you are lusting after? Here's what the bible has to say about it in 2 Timothy 2:22,

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love [and] peace...”

Here's another bible verse about lust in James 1:14-17

14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Those three verses just drive at one thing, we should avoid lust which is an evil desire that gives birth to sin which ultimately leads to death.

GLUTONNY
This is excessive eating. Eating too much and forgetting about others who are in need is a sin.

Here's what the bible says about gluttony of the Israelites in Psalm 78:17-31

17 But they continued to sin against him,
rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High.
18 They willfully put God to the test
by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God;
they said, “Can God really
spread a table in the wilderness?
20 True, he struck the rock,
and water gushed out,
streams flowed abundantly,
but can he also give us bread?
Can he supply meat for his people?”
21 When the Lord heard them, he was furious;
his fire broke out against Jacob,
and his wrath rose against Israel,
22 for they did not believe in God
or trust in his deliverance.
23 Yet he gave a command to the skies above
and opened the doors of the heavens;
24 he rained down manna for the people to eat,
he gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Human beings ate the bread of angels;
he sent them all the food they could eat.
26 He let loose the east wind from the heavens
and by his power made the south wind blow.
27 He rained meat down on them like dust,
birds like sand on the seashore.
28 He made them come down inside their camp,
all around their tents.
29 They ate till they were gorged—
he had given them what they craved.
30 But before they turned from what they craved,
even while the food was still in their mouths,
31 God’s anger rose against them;
he put to death the sturdiest among them,
cutting down the young men of Israel.

We can see that the Israelites were doubting God's power and were tempting him because of their greed for food. God destroyed some of them in the end. See? Gluttony can destroy. Here's a bible passage in proverbs that warns us against having a desire for food.
  • When you sit to dine with a ruler,
    note well what[a] is before you,
    2 and put a knife to your throat
    if you are given to gluttony.*

GREED

we all know what greed is an we know that being a greedy person is not good especially for a believer.

Here's a bible verse in Hebrews 13 vs 5 about greed

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’"

Here's another bible passage in ecclesiastes that tell us about having greed for money.

Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
This too is meaningless.

SLOTH

Sloth is being so lazy as not to work and utilize one's talents.

Here is what solomon said about sloth in proverbs 6:6 saying,

“Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.”

A slothful person would end up being in poverty and here are the bible verses in proverbs 24 that say this

33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.

WRATH

This is having extreme anger towards something or someone. As Christians this shouldn't be found in us as we are supposed to be meek and forgiving.

Here's what the bible has to say about wrath in psalm 37

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

Here's another part of the bible that tells us something about wrath;

Proverbs 14:29 King James Version (KJV). 29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. King James Version (KJV).

ENVY

Envy is the exceptional want to have a thing or experience that another person has. This is in no way good for us Christians. We shouldn't be envious or jealous of other people and be happy with what and where we are.

Here are bible verses on envy;
  • Proverbs 23:17 - Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the LORD always.*

1 Peter 2:1-2
Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander

PRIDE

Pride is an over the top perspective of one's self without respect for others.
As so often heard, pride foes before a fall. Make sure to check yourself for pride in order to eliminate it from you.

Here are bible verses on pride.;
  • Proverbs 16:5 - Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Proverbs 16:18 - Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.*

As Christians we need to be watchful especially in this end times so as not fall prey of the devil when he comes around enticing us with these sins.
Have a great day ahead.

We are imperfect, so we sin from time to time. We have to do well to try to avoid these sins. One way is to indeed limit our associations with those that may show us the wrong path.

This is a list of things we should avoid. Though, I feel that all sins hurt God. The only sin I feel is on a different scale is the sin against the holy spirit. Because for that kind of sin, the scriptires says there is no forgiveness. Thanks for sharing.

Nanatsu no tazai (seven deadly sin) will sure ruin you.
As christians we need to be watchful and mindful of our actions and guard our heart against these sins.

As Christians we need to be watchful especially in this end times so as not fall prey of the devil when he comes around enticing us with these sins.

Sin will kill you and also make you lose the kingdom of heaven, as a Christian we need to abstain from sin

The Bible tells us to stay away from anything, that would ruin our relationship with God. Nice post sirjoe

This which you listed here are sons which we sometimes consider as minor sins and we commit it daily without thinking but they are the sins which will eventually condem us is very important we avoid it very well.

Let me talk about Greed
The sin of greed will not only kill a man
It will bring down a Nation
Greed is a great sin that has taken so many believers to the pit of hell
.

This list out things or character we should avoid. I think all sins are the same, they wrong God.

War against SIn has always been a major issue as many lose to it. Nevertheless, it should be avoided by all cost because it's effect kills faster than one can imagine.true Christ we would overcome. Therefore, let us always involve God

In my opinion any Sin will not kill us yet sin will drag us to the hell in the hereafter. In order the release the sins.. we should repent.

Wow great talk,but what causes people to sin,sin is a nature thing.it is natural for someone that is not bornagain to sin because that is nature,but when someone becomes bornagain everything changes2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
God does not grade sin,sin is sin,and the reason alot of believers are still struggling with sin though they are save is because they have not come to the truth of what Chris has done,because the gospel have the power to break every form of addiction or so problem.2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace..

By the power in the blood of Jesus, I refuse to wallow in sin! Amen.

So true! I totally agree with everything you ve said. The irony of the whole thing is that, sometimes we develop those sins even without knowing. And, that is why the bible encourages us to examine ourselves to see if we are still in faith.
