THE NAME JESUS

The Old Testament, the book of the Lord, through the prophets revealed the coming of Jesus into the world. Many of them prophesied of his works, death and kingship. He was given different names according to the functions he is to perform.
God was the first who spoke of his son that he is going to destroy serpent.

Genesis 3:15 KJV
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The savior, Jesus is said to come from a tribe which is smaller among the tribes.

Prophet Isaiah also spoke about his ministry of salvation, healing and deliverance.

Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. [2] The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Isaiah 35:5-6 KJV
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. [6] Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

The suffering of Jesus which led to the redemption of the world was made known. He was beaten, tortured for our healing. He is a doctor of the world by whose stripe we are all healed.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The new testament affirmed the fulfillment of the promises and the child came as said for the world to be saved.

The name has been so wonderful to those who believe in him, just because Jesus surrendered himself as sacrifice for the world not considering his status in heaven.
