In what theologians call His Priestly prayer, Jesus said Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you. This statement means that if God does not glorify one first, even with the right intention to do so and making the right effort, no one can glorify God, except God takes the initiative.
The word "Glorify" means to make someone or something more important or better than they really are; to praise someone or something especially God. So, if you really believe that it is time for God to glorify you, your heart will warm up with joy, provided your intention too is to glorify God.
1Peter 4:14
14If you are censured and suffer abuse [because you bear] the name of Christ, blessed [are you--happy, fortunate, [h]to be envied, [i]with life-joy, and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of your outward condition], because the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, is resting upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.
Effort is needed to glorify God; it needs endurance. When miracles happen around us, God is glorifying us, but we glorify God when we suffer because of Him, no wonder Simon Peter said "If we share in the sufferings of Christ we will share in His glory when it is revealed". Our suffering testifies that the spirit of glory and of God rests upon us. Jesus prayed for this glory; the apostles prayed for it; we too ought to pray and work for it by always bearing witness to the truth.
The Mysterious God
God or anything about Him is a mystery, meaning He's hard to fully understand and to explain. The more we learn about God, the more we need to learn, yet we can never know enough about Him. The knowledge of God comes through revelation and faith is the only key to it. Faith makes us keep following even if we do not fully understand. Without faith no man can please God.
Hebrews 11:6
6But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
The mysterious God says you should be glorified and that time is now, who can challenge or doubt that, but only lack of faith.
The time came for the ultimate sacrifice of giving His life to God for our sake and Jesus says ** that is the hour the son of man is to be glorified.**

The hour that we decide to give ourselves to God and for every hour as long as that decision remains carried out is God's hour for our glorification. (John 17:1-11)
