"He extends the north over emptiness, and hangs the earth over nothing. It envelops the waters in its clouds, and the cloud does not break under them. It darkens the face of the full moon, and extends its cloud over it. He has drawn a circle on the surface of the waters, on the edge of light and darkness. The pillars of heaven tremble, and are appalled at his rebuke. The sea shook with its power, and Rahab broke with his understanding. With its breath the skies are cleansed; his hand has pierced the elusive serpent. Behold, these are the edges of your paths; And how slight is the word that He gives! But its powerful thunder, who can understand? "

Who is God?

God is the power that created the heavens and the earth. When he said: "Let there be light!" Light came into the world, and created day and night. (Genesis 1) God divided the Red Sea into two, and caused the walls of Jericho to fall without a single blow. (Exodus 14:21, Joshua 5:20) Even the sun and the moon stop at His word. (Joshua 10:13)

God is infinitely great. The prophet Isaiah makes an attempt to describe it:

"Who measured the waters with the hollow of his hand and the heavens with his span, with three fingers joined the dust of the earth, and weighed the hills with scales and weights the hills?" (Isaiah 40:12)

"He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, he unfolds them like a tent to dwell in." (Isaiah 40:22)

God is eternal

This is the same God with whom we can have contact in our personal life. He is always the same. God is eternal.

"Have you not known, have you not heard that the eternal God is Jehovah, who created the ends of the earth? He does not faint, nor does he tire of exhaustion, and his understanding has no one to reach him "(Isaiah 40: 28-29).

By its power barriers and walls fall, and what is impossible becomes possible! Where once we fell into sin again and again, now in the power of the eternal God we can stand firm!

This means that this same force, the same indescribable power that divided the Red Sea in the blink of an eye, is still available - for you and me! Most of us will not enter and own cities and countries, or have war against physical enemies, but God has called us to resist the sin that dwells in us. Through Jesus he gave us the possibility to be free from the bondage of sin, from our own desires and passions. Of everything that causes unrest and conflict.

We need God's help every day - every time we are tempted, to overcome the sin that wants to manifest itself in us. Sin is strong, but the power of God is always stronger! By His power barriers and walls fall, and what is impossible becomes possible! Where once we fell into sin again and again, now in the power of the eternal God we can stand firm.

Shining the eyes of your understanding

God can create something completely new in us, if we let Him have all the power and if we give up our own will. In this way we are in the correct position to be transformed. When God receives access to our lives, we can truly be new people who are no longer under the power of sin. What a huge hope! Can we see it? Paul writes in Ephesians 1: 17-18:

"Remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, enlightening the eyes of your understanding, so that you may know what is the hope that he has called you, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. "

As Paul prayed that the Ephesians might see hope even more clearly, we can also pray that He will shine our eyes with our understanding. We can pray to see how God sees. Then God again creates light where there was darkness before, and situations take a complete turn. Life becomes interesting and full of hope!

The power of God is sufficient

It is about grasping faith in the power of God in our personal lives. This power is strong enough to free us from sin and lead us to a life in God's will, which is only future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Faith in the power of God causes us to let go, and let Him who has all the power over heaven and earth guide us in return. How big is the power of God!

"And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe, according to the operation of the power of his strength." Ephesians 1: 19.
