Joshua 1: 1-17

In all the Chapter 3 of Josue speaks to us when they separated the waters again to let pass to the town by means of the ark

LOOK! The Israelites are crossing the Jordan River! But where is the water? Because at that time of the year a lot of rain falls, the river was very full a few minutes before. But now all the water is gone! And the Israelites are crossing over dry land just as they did in the Red Sea! Where did all the water go? Let's see.

When the time came for the Israelites to cross the Jordan River, this is what Jehovah had Joshua say to the people: 'The priests must carry the ark of the covenant and go before us. When they put their feet in the waters of the Jordan River, the waters will stop. '

So the priests raise the ark of the covenant and carry it before the people. When they reach the Jordan, the priests enter the water. The river flows quickly and is deep. But as soon as their feet touch it, the water starts to stop! It is a miracle! Upstream, Jehovah has closed the way to the water. The river is dry!

The priests who carry the ark of the covenant pass into the middle of the dry river. Can you see them in the picture? While they are there, all the Israelites begin to cross the Jordan River on dry land!

When all have crossed, Jehovah causes Joshua to say to 12 strong men: 'Go to the river where the priests are with the ark of the covenant. Collect 12 stones from there and put them where everyone can spend the night. So, in the future, when your children ask what these stones mean, you must tell them that the waters stopped running when the ark of God's covenant crossed the Jordan. The stones will remind you of this miracle! 'Joshua also raises 12 stones where the priests have been in the river.

At last Joshua says to the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: 'Go up from the Jordan.' When they do this, the river begins to flow again.
