They are the owners of the Steem Network. A network that costs less than a quarter of a billion dollars right now, you want to buy the network?
Go buy it. And, stop your whining about how much power the whales have.
Regarding Steem Power
I have posted to make it clear what I think the purpose and design of Steem is: To reduce reward going to individuals that design aliases. As a result to this, the wealth will be better distributed.
Just remember that the goal of any well-designed blockchain ledger network is to better distribute wealth to all people and not to the millions of aliases belonging the wealthy.
Also, what makes you intellectually different than a bot that belongs to some whale?
"Whaleaccountname" looks to have a lot of bots on their side.
^Think about it.
The Sybil Attack
@anyx has shown all Steem users that a Sybil Attack method is real, and could be implemented with better stealth; using this post. Misuse of aliases are real, wake up. They are the reason for the failure of Democracy time and again. No system can be created with a void of aliases.
The Bots of Alias Makers
Not all bots are bad; particularly not the bots that openly admit to being a bot. By admitting bot status they admit to being an alias of another entity. They admit to being an extension of that entity and in my opinion should be treated as such. If you are going to vote down the bot, you should admit to yourself you are voting down the bot owner.
Well the bot owner is a rich @$$&*!!
Calm down… if what you are saying is true, they can flag you and down vote you with all that SteemPower. The fact they have not is proof of how kind and understanding they are.
Acknowledgment and acceptance of the alias reality is important. The system of Steem almost appears to be built under the assumption that people will form aliases. But, this action will give them almost no advantage over others, because of the way Steem works.
I have a feeling I am going to be referencing this post many times in the future, so if you are reading this because of a link I hope you learned something.
They actually fixed the hot algorithm! So you can no longer sybil your way to the top of hot, which is awesome. They finally listened. :) However, making new accounts is still too easy, and people are already using this maliciously with sock puppets. Hopefully the founders are aware of this.
Despite fixing the hot algorithm, the vote count is still shown, which is silly, since I still want to use all my steem power to upvote my content but it's spread among so many accounts. Would still be nice to be able to proxy my upvotes to my main account... but at least I feel less bad about upvoting my own content now.

The whole point of what I typed out was not that aliases are a "problem" that need to be fixed. it is that the appropriate fix is already in the platform. That fix is, if I split my SteemPower(funds) across 2 accounts I will reduce my voting power. Not that fixing the hot algorithm was unnecessary or anything.

Well my understanding is that 1000 x 3sp accounts is equivalent to 1 x 3000sp account. So splitting your power is just.. somewhat a waste of time (but sadly unavoidable if you are a miner).
In my opinion aliases are only really a problem if they are misused or abused.

"The system of Steem almost appears to be built under the assumption that people will form aliases. Would it help if I checked out you accounts and voted something up for each of them... LOL

It's not entirely true that there is no advantage, yet. One can refresh reputation with a new alias, for example.
And yep, my mining accounts are being slowly powered down and the steem is funneled into my main account.
