I have a question. How much does steem care about freedom of speech?
Im interested in politics. While discussing politics, people often have controversial viewoints and opinions.
I abandoned reddit specifically because of climate of that place.
Everyone who doesnt have far left opinions is being silenced there. Its their method of debating.
What if someone is considering opinions of the others "offensive" and will flag maliciously to shut down discussion?
Is there any protection against that? What can be done to assure the freedom of speech.
Just appealing isnt enough, since then we are on a mercy of a moderator, and everyone has their own opinions and biases. Including mods.

Steemit is censorship resistant since no one can delete or remove comments or posts. They can only be hidden on steemit.com and there are other sites that don't hide them. Flagging may remove rewards and lower reputations but it can't stop them from posting and commenting if they choose to.

There's a lot of intolerance towards other peoples viewpoints in certain tags & topics of discussion. In an ideal world everyone would act like adults and respect each other but that doesn't always happen and it tends to lead to flag wars.

Flat-earthers and the scientific community are two that frequently clash leaving a lot of fallout with flags and low to negative reputations. Mostly because they persist on commenting on blog posts after they have been asked to provide scientific reasons for their beliefs or stop commenting. A lot of users don't use the "mute" button either as they want to make sure the commenters aren't earning rewards they see as undeserved.

"flag wars", excatly what I meant.
Alright, still getting familiar with how steem works =P.

Thanks a lot for your relentless quality work among us. You allow our platform to grow in integrity and sustainability.

Namaste :)

I am against impostors who are trying to impose their own rules on everyone. You put a flag on me and made a loss of about 10 SBD. Since I have a small voice, I will have to obey the bandits. I have fulfilled your conditions. But, then you will give me back my upvote. I make content and make it interesting for my audience. You are engaged in extortion from the authors and hinder the development of social networks. And you make money on it. You are not free fighters for your ideas. You are thugs who earn extortion from the authors. I will put flags to all your posts until I bring you the loss that you brought to me.

Good job, as always...:)...

thank you for the information

good post :) thanks for update @steemcleaners

Wow. A lot of plagiarism going on. As a writer I'd better check your posts often. You are a great asset to Steemit. Thanks for all your great work @steemcleaners.

I feel it is important that you know when someone has a report to make, even when a link has already been reported. The reason being is that the person making the report may have useful comments to make or information that adds to previous reports. Example this post from 2 days ago that I tried to report: https://steemit.com/video/@joeparys/learn-how-to-create-amazing-videos-for-free

There is no comment by @steemcleaners on that post. Is it because he has a REP of 61? Is it because of the amount of the (at time of writing this) pending payout of $462.15? or the number of comments 229? Inappropriate tag use is inappropriate tag use, and either it applies to everyone, or it applies to no one.

Or do I need to change my tune on all the new user pages that I see a comment from @steemcleaners chiding the new member for using #introduceyourself tag in more than one post? Do I need to stop letting them know about the cheetah bot FAQ's and how steemcleaners works for the good of steemit? Because you only work for the good of steemit when it involves an individual with a low rep or low SP, or is only a minnow or a redfish and you are nothing more in truth than what others keep telling me a NAZIish selfish organization?

I truly hope that is not the case. I fully expect to see a comment from you on this post about his/her inappropriate use of the tag.

The above individual is a REP level 61 who joined in July 2017. Per your own post

The #introduceyourself tag is meant to be used for one's introductory post -- a post that talks about the author, shares why they joined the community, mentions their goals or dreams, and in general provides an "about me" overview. Typically, this is the first post a new user would make and is therefore the most important post for that person. The #introduceyourself tag is also curated by myriad members and bots who welcome new users to the platform, often with an upvote.

This post does not belong on the introduce yourself tag. This post is for the benefit of the poster only is not an Introductory post at all. I have seen @steemcleaners on numerous times flag and remark on innocent new users post about using the tag introduceyourself many times. Show the steemit community that you really are out to help protect them and comment on and flag this post.

We are currently backlogged with over 800 reports in the queue. The new site is near completion which will speed up the processing of reports. After the new site is launched and the kinks ironed out we will be adding some additional functionality such as allowing those that report find out the status of their reports via Discord. In addition, we will work on additional options for notifications and reporting from quality reporters such as yourself.

Thanks for the response, I hope things will work out, I really do think that you and steemcleaners do a good job, and I would be very disappointed to see double standards being set-up or even the appearance of double standards.
