Crypto-comic character design of @lovejoy!

in steemcomiccon •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey, friends! Coming to you all tonight by way of Steem Comic Convention, courtesy of the hard work of @steem-comic-con. For those of you who haven’t heard, it’s a new initiative for comic book culture enthusiasts with hopes of laying some ground work leading up to the roll out of Steemit Communities. You can read my post here, or on the Steem Comic Convention ChainBB Forums. Trial by Comics has fostered a great little gang of nerds, so all of you regulars should consider joining and contributing […just be aware that you will authenticate with your private post key, and that new threads on the forums will show up on your Steemit timeline].

Tonight, I’m happy to share some new sketching. Trial by Comics has done a great job of keeping my Apple Pencil to the screen […that was a huge motivation in starting the contest to begin with], but otherwise, I feel like all I’ve been doing is editing photos and traveling. Tonight, I took the time to work on character design for a crypto-inspired comic I’ve been working on for the last 6 months.

If you’d like some context, feel free to read the full script for this first issue […Cryptopia was the working title but I’m leaning towards changing that] for an introduction to some of the characters and plot. The character I drew up tonight is based on an actual friend of mine and fellow Steemian, @lovejoy!

The real @lovejoy has been a indispensable crypto-mentor to me since finding my way to Steemit through @mada last summer. The character @lovejoy […in this comic, just known as “Lovejoy”] is a spiritual advisor that manages to infiltrate the highest echelon of Fortune 500 companies, planting seeds of discontent as they scramble to survive in a world that is being rapidly reshaped by the adoption of cryptocurrencies.

CEO’s of legacy oil, energy and telecom companies rely on @lovejoy for his calm demeanor and extensive understanding of strategy within the crypto-ecosystem. Their companies […and industries] hemorrhage money and struggle to grasp how to “crush” this new form of money. @lovejoy calm explains that these are blockchains and that it can’t be “bought” in the traditional sense. That the only way to direct the blockchain’s future it to become the majority stake-holders in the blockchain itself.

In his wisdom, he leaves these corporate leaders to devise their own strategies of flooding billions of dollars in as an effort to buy every token that stake-holders are willing to sell. @lovejoy’s guidance becomes responsible for the single largest transfer of wealth in American history. From there, things happen…but I’ll save that for the actual comic.

Art notes worth mentioning. This, like most of my work, was drawing using Procreate, Apple Pencil and iPad Pro […which I won’t miss an opportunity to mention was bought 100% with STEEM rewards].

It felt great to work on comic book stuff tonight. Hoping I can make time to do some more soon. I post daily, so for more comics, art, photography and the stories behind the work, follow me here @kommienezuspadt!

Nice character design. I recently used Apple Pencil for the first time recently. It is very impressive.

Very good painting.

I like the drawing... it's a nice representation of your friend without being "exactly" him.
