Time for another Columns for Steem update!
(If you don’t see the updated version when you visit the website, hold down the Shift key and click your browser’s reload button to force a full reload of the site)
What's new?
This update adds Steem Power & Voting Power with a little progress bar to user columns, just like I promised last update.
Even though there is more information displayed now, it uses up about the same amount of space as before because I made the pills (or rather chips as they are called in Google’s Material Design which this app uses) a bit smaller.
There is also a new setting that lets you hide reblogs/resteems in user columns if you turn it off.
Other than that I just fixed two bugs and replaced the “#” sign in column headers with a tag icon, felt a bit out of place before.
Next up
Next update like I mentioned before is going to be overall speed improvements to the app, I’ve been releasing an update every couple of days but this one could take slightly more time since I’ll rewrite a lot of code along the way and need to make sure everything keeps working as before. After that I'll start adding some bigger features like voting, reblogging, writing and reading posts directly from within the app.
Good work. Pity that this and other projects arent getting the view from the big hitters that they deserve

Thanks! Yeah I thought it would have gained at least a bit more interest by now, but it's probably just a matter of time. I think people on Steem right now are mostly interested in writing and voting because that's how you can make money, and the app doesn't do any of that yet, so once I've built that in and don't rely on linking to Steemit.com anymore it might get more popular.
That's something I hope my app or yours will change. You can write posts all day but if nobody reads them, what's the point? I've written some super in-depth well researched 10 to 20 page articles that not only didn't get any votes, nobody even read them according to the view count. And one article was probably shared outside of Steem, because it was viewed about 500 times, but within Steem it only gained 2 votes or something like that and zero comments. So making more people interested in actually reading Steem posts is something I think could improve the Steem experience for everyone. Before writing the app I haven't read many posts on Steem myself, but now I track a few hashtags I'm interested in within columns and read posts all the time as they are scrolling in, so now Steem has completely replaced Twitter & Reddit for me.
I also plan to add tabs to the app soon that will let you display sets of columns, so you can have one set open for world news, one for tech news, one for cryptocurrency news, one for art and so on, whatever interests you. Because as it is now you can't have more than five or six columns open at the same time before you need to scroll sideways and scrolling sideways is a terrible user experience (unless you're on a laptop with a touchpad that lets you easily scroll sideways).
Much more worrying than the low amount of users so far though is that I still haven't heard back from SteemTools (tried to get my other app Steem Observatory listed on there five weeks ago, no reply, wrote an email, no reply, tried adding Columns for Steem, no reply) or SteemConnect V2 after about a week (which says you get early access after signing up to build it into your app so people can login to your app with their Steem account and vote and so on). It's kinda hard making apps for Steem when two such important infrastructure tools don't seem to be actually working :D
