Important service update regarding voting and free users
Steem Dunk will always be free for those who don't want to pay for the very cheap annual pricing. There will now be two types of payment, "direct" and "indirect".
Direct Payment
All plans are paid yearly in SBD. This is an extremely and affordable pricing range for all users that also allows our servers to keep running smoothly.
Plan | Curation Quota | Price (SBD) |
---|---|---|
Bronze | 20 | Free |
Silver | 50 | $5 |
Gold | 100 | $10 |
Indirect Payment
Free users will be required to indirectly pay for the service by using a single 100% upvote on our posts. This will only take effect for new posts. Premium users are exempt from this system.
This has multiple benefits:
- Users can still use the service freely
- This will help cover the costs of hosting
- It makes it easier for new users to find the service
- @steemdunk doesn't post often, so your voting power won't hurt
A big thank you to premium users
I'd like to express my gratitude to those who are premium users, including those from the testing phase. This directly helps the project to keep running and supports future development! Development takes time, and time costs money. Becoming a premium member helps directly support the development of this project.
Payments made to @steemdunk, whether paid upvotes or for premium, contribute to helping the steem power grow, making the votes worth more for everyone to utilize.
Adjustments to paid upvotes
@steemdunk will automatically give you a refund if our power is less than 70% and the upvote weight has been adjusted to 70%. This allows any investment to be doubled while serving more users, including those who opt in only for free upvotes.
Adjustments to free upvotes
Previously @steemdunk would pick 4 random users to upvote. This is no longer the case. The bot will now pick least recently voted user. This is to ensure everyone can get a vote fairly. The vote cycle still occurs every 2.4 hours with a 15% upvote weight.
Features Coming Soon
- The ability to limit how many times you give an author an upvote.

Hey @steemdunk. As I said in Discord already. The yearly puts things into perspective! Haha. Very fair price! Thank you for clarifying this, and thanks again for your really well designed service.

Great Service brother!!! Very n!Ce to see you growing <3
But one suggestion I have for the payed votes. May you can add that the name is mentioned when you buy a 0,2 upvote or give the opportunity. Like when you post in memo the article link steemdunk vote like it does now and when you post the article link + your name that steemdunks comments mention the noble donators name...

I love your service so much!
I upvote your comments you leave for boosting when I get them and catch them. You should offer credit for that maybe - I don't know if other people do that or if it would be worth it to you to trade for that anyway.
Thank you for the limiting per author, per day idea. I will use it for sure.

Is there any benefit for a free user to switch to your servicea from steemvoter?

From a security stand point, we don't store your private key. If you have 500+ steem power, then you can stick with steemvoter to get the 25 free slots, otherwise @steemdunk offers more (20 free, regardless of power). As steemdunk is payed annually, you can get quite a bit more slots for cheaper (starting at $0.41 SBD/month or $5 annually). There is a new feature being released soon, and that allows restricting max upvotes per day per author to save VP, which is a much requested feature. Ultimately, it's up to the user to decide which service to use. Thank you for your interest.

Oh! I didn't know you charged that upvote fee. I'd like to cancel and I just signed up, but I can't figure out how. Please help. Forcing me to upvote your content makes it not "free", and there was no upfront mention of that. Honestly, it seems like a very fair price, but just knowing that I can't easily unsubscribe and not having known upfront is what's making me feel wary.

@improv It's not really a "fee" in the sense that you don't have to pay a single thing except a small percentage of voting power that replenishes itself in a short time period. The indirect payment system is there to help grow Steemdunk. Why would I work on it so much if all people did was leech? For now it's the best compromise that's fair to everyone.

I agree that it's a reasonable amount, but I disagree that it's not a fee. My concern is that there's nothing to let me know this when I signed up. If I hadn't done some exploring, I wouldn't have found this.
Since I now know there's a way to unsubscribe, I feel more ok about it, and will stick with it, but if I can suggest two additions: one, that upon signing up, there's a notification that the upvoting thing will happen. Two, that there be a link on the page for unsubscribing to the service.

I have another suggestion. I'd use a tool that let me upvote all of an author's posts with a particular tag. I joined a community that uses tags to identify posts relevant to that community, so I'd like to upvote @mariannewest's #freewrite posts, specifically.

Hi @improv, thanks for the suggestion, a feature for this is planned. I've recently completed an internal overhaul before I can start adding new features again.
