STEEM ELECTRICALS flex 3x2 Uyo High School.jpg

Hi, my name is Ubong Udofot,

Yesterday, December 5th, 2024, was a remarkable day as I successfully concluded another solar charity project this year, marking the second solar project in 2024 and the fourth solar overall since 2022 in Nigeria, as many of you have witnessed.

The "Steem Lighting Africa project" is more than just a dream. it's a real-life initiative creating tangible impacts in my locality.

As we are all aware, Planet Earth has been facing severe climate change challenges for years now. As a passionate solar technician and dealer, I strongly believe in educating my community about embracing green energy and installing solar PVs in secondary schools to support quality education.

Through my content creation on STEEM, I've been able to save 25-50% of each of my publication earnings which I allocate towards this initiative and I had also invited friends on STEEM to support this initiative which they did.

As a green guardian, I consider this transition of fossil fuels to solar energy a great idea that raises critical comparisons regarding environmental impacts, the costs and benefits.

As we all know, apart from the initial investment in solar PVs, solar energy provides a long-term savings as sunlight is totally free from nature, this is why I love the sun.

This idea reduces some greenhouse gas emissions and improves air quality, creating healthier learning environments for the students in my community. But most importantly, it provides a sustainable electricity.

Installing solar in schools will enhance educational opportunities, engaging the students in sustainability projects and inspiring community involvement - which is the driving force behind the "Steem Lighting Africa Project".

Summary of the launch event

Project location:

Uyo High School-Nigeria

We arrived almost the same time at the venue. And it was already looking like a bright day, of course it was.

@dequeen ,@udyliciouz, @lusciouslucy, @iddy, @eliany and family arriving the event center......

The event started few minutes after 10 am - the principal called me and the Steem users that accompanied me to his office, the essence of this was for documentation. Normally, after a project like that in school, the head teacher will document and include that in a file.

The students assembled, while the vice-principal addressed them.

I tried to captured the moment through video recording and pictures. He told the students about the donors and what they represent. This was so impressive.

After that moment, I was called upon to address the students as well which I did. I didn't really say much, because I have addressed these students almost 5 times last week. I also took time to educate them about renewable energy and why it is important to embrace that.

After the speech, we moved to the PVs point, that was were we did the handing over.

After the handing-over, the senior prefect of the school master Shedrach expressed his appreciation un-behalf of the entire students. He also assured us that they would take good care of the solar system.

We had a good reception at the Udodoma field (Ibibio museum park), stand 176 were we had our refreshment. We all had a good time there discussing some important factors to succeed on STEEM.

Appreciation

I want to use this medium to thank @faisalamin and @ady-was-here who supported the refreshment with the sum of 130 Steem through the @steemelectricals account, thank you guys!

I also want to thank all the friends who honored the invitation to attain this great event. And to the friends who supported this project from the beginning till the last part through their upvotes and sharing of beneficiaries, I want to say a big thank you to you all for believing in me and supporting my initiative, without your supports, all these won't be possible. Thank you for making this happened, you all did it. I wish you more blessings!

Three or four of such successful realized projects and you will become a VIP in your region! Congrats and go for it!

Thank you for your kind words and all your supports....

I prefer beign "relevant" than VIP..

Oh I'm grateful this comes true, thank you for your good job well done ✅ 👍

May you fine success in all your project such as this.

I know how happy you are, you deserve to be happy.

It is such a great feeling to see that YOU managed to realize this project!!!!
As your sister said, “proud” is a correct expression! Yes, you can be terribly, terribly proud! I am proud to know you, a person with wonderful dreams that she realizes in adverse circumstances. The handful of Nigerians who attended your event should be proud to support you on the ground.

Why so few? Don't dozens of Steemians live in Uyo?! Couldn't they have used the opportunity to support you and (at least) represent the Steem?
I don't even want to mention all the names. Maybe they are reading this without mention and are ashamed.

Yes, it's a shame how little attention is paid to each other here, how little such real projects are appreciated. Well, I guess everyone is busy “learning”...

Anyway, don't be upset! It was an epochal day, it was YOUR day, it was a day to be happy and PROUD!
Congratulations from the bottom of my heart!!!

Hi Chriddi,

I came across your comment while exploring, and I felt it was important to respond. Although you didn’t mention my name, you did say at least represent Steem, and as an SR, I should have attended, right?

If you check my history, I've been a strong supporter of this project until around the end of August last year. At that time, I was organizing a meet-up and copied the organizer of this charity, who was still one of my Country Representatives. To my surprise, he outright told me to untag him because he does not support any form of promotion in Nigeria. It made me question the purpose of the charity work I've been advocating. What would you call that? Hypocrisy, right?

If you were in my shoes, how would you feel?

Anyway, regarding the event before last, I personally invited others in my city, but my efforts were met with indifference. Pretty disappointing, right?

I consider myself a free-spirited person; I love Steem and always support initiatives that contribute to the growth and benefit of this great platform. However, I also value my integrity and self-worth above all. Therefore, I will only engage where I feel recognized and appreciated.

Hi Goody,
no, you don't have to feel addressed, at most as one of “dozens of Steemians in Uyo”. I really wasn't thinking of you personally or SR in general. I was thinking of many, many Steemians living in Uyo. A great many. A large crowd represented (without being called “SR”). A large crowd of Steemians in blue t-shirts.... Wow!!! “Who made this project reality? Steemians? Who or what is Steem?” - “We!!!!” (shouts the crowd). Yes, that would have been representative...

I don't know anything about the story you want to tell me and I have the feeling it's none of my business. I just see someone who has managed to raise funds for a great project and then actually make it happen.

I'm a little surprised that you came across my comment while exploring, but didn't address a word or a vote to the author of this article. How do you find comments like that just like that? Well, I guess that's none of my business either.

Have a nice day.

Oh, you're right; it's not proper to form a busybody on people's matters. Well, I'm a good reader; sometimes I used to devote a day to reading only, and when I came across this post on someone's blog, I decided to read it, and that's how I found your comment. I just responded to you because you were raising questions about Uyo City Steemians, which I am among. I know you might not have had me in mind when you commented, but another user out there may stumble over the comment and think otherwise; that's why I stated my reasons, but that's just by the way.

Do have a great day and happy happy 7th anniversary!

happy 7th anniversary

Thank you... 😊
To be honest, I don't care for this anniversary at all. I only care that the children in Uganda won't starve. My “birthday” is a good occasion to collect donations. Donations for Uganda, 1 STEEM for Uganda. You are welcome to attend my party, but you have to bring 1 STEEM... 😉

Awww, sure, I would love to attend, but the truth is that I don't really get the game. I want to ask, should I send the Steem directly to your wallet or how?
