This is actually the first feature film by Regina King, best known for her work as an actress (we have seen her recently take the lead role in the series " Watchmen ", or in " If Beale Street Could Talk ").

So I will give the film five stars and I will say that Regina King in her directorial debut hit a homerun. I think people need to remember that this is a work of fiction based on a stage play. This is what someone imagined might have happened in the room, not something that actually did. King did a excellent job of showing a different side of these icons.
Malcolm X was fiery and unafraid in public, but he was still a human being so I had no problem with him being afraid and even tearing up.

Synopsis: After winning a decisive match giving him the title of champion, the young boxer Cassius Clay Jr. (alias Mohamed Ali or Muhammad Ali) celebrates his victory in a motel room in Miami surrounded by three of his closest friends: Jim Brown, Sam Cooke and Malcolm X. Over the night, they will confront their points of view on the defense of the rights of African Americans.

" One Night in Miami "is adapted from an eponymous play, itself based on a true story, that of the night that the four protagonists would have spent together on February 25, 1964.

Adapted from the play by its very author, namely Kemp Powers, the film therefore essentially consists of a closed session during which our various protagonists will exchange their views on the place of African-Americans in American society. years of the 1960s and on the legitimacy that each of them can have in the eyes of the public, as the United States is about to observe great societal upheavals on this subject, thanks to the various movements for the struggle for equal civic rights.

One Night in Miami is a must see film that exposes the heart of each men portrayed on the screen. Non-Black people may not understand the back-drop of this film, most Black-Americans will immediately understand the film's purpose. The take away from the film, each of us (Black-Americans) plays a role in the struggle for equality in this country. Big or small we are all participants in this fight and it's up to us to change the narrative! Hopefully, we will continue to see more films about us, that are told by us. Also Regina King is on the rise, a big Kudos to her for her great work in this as she has really hit the bulls eye with this also been her directorial debut, I must confess, this looks like a movie directed by an already professional director...

There are so many positive things to be said about this wonderful film, but I'll keep it short. The actors are absolutely magnificent. Each of them captures the essence and heart of the legendary character he portrays.

Definitely one to watch!, I strongly recommend
