There's a little cottontail there
Not a jack another type of hare
Out in the open through the window I see
The coney pads 'round the drive near me
No shadows nor glares ever stopping
Sniffs the air then strides galloping
Something in the morning our eyes greet
Short bounds it makes on lucky feet
The grasses are still growing
Though the nights are below freezing
The fur of winter thickens
And the white feet out on mittens
It's advent in the second week
Oh the power of one meek
Now above He reigns on High
On the right hand of the Most High
Christmas Day comes once a year
The birth of love brings good cheer
The simple sing and dance with glee
For He once died for you and me
Me he raised up, made me mighty
Armed and armored I face the unholy
When all the world would pass away
We the host helped it stay
Oh there's the frost, the late fall's dew
Have a Merry Christmas I wish unto you
Let peace on Earth be yours soon
In your heart Carol a Merry tune
The cold is below what they said it'd be
The wind is calm, sky clear to see
The Lord is good, fair, bright just
We are but mortals ashes and dust
We will be tried tested metal
That will forever never rust
As the rabbit says good morning
In raiments soft warm adorning
And gain voices that sing forever
With thanks and clear strong fervour
Eternal freedom shall always be ours
For time eternal not marked by hours
Merry Christmas!
