Actually, Quantum computing was first theorized in the early 1980s by physicist Richard Feynman. In the late 1980s, physicist Paul Benioff proposed the use of quantum mechanical phenomena such as quantum entanglement and superposition to build a quantum computer. The first prototype of a quantum computer was built in 1995 by Peter Shor.
