How little a person needs

I've definitely had a lot of weird things happen in my life lately, so weird that it's beyond belief, but that's not the topic of this post. Beyond these strange things, there is something else that never ceases to amaze me about the place I live, and that is the peculiarity of the people here.
I don't know how interesting it would be for you to read about Bulgarian folk psychology, but one day someone might try to lie to you about how good life is here and how with your nice German or other Western European pension you will live like kings here. But then you might say: wait a minute, there was a strange bird on Steemit a while back trying to explain that people in this country are bad and life is below any comment to the point of impossible.
And the people, you have no way of knowing what they are like, because they are usually super servile with foreigners, of course, at any moment they can take advantage of them. But of other people...

So, I'm trying to find a dentist in the next town because it's close, and because I know people there anyway who I've been asking for years about good doctors and dentists. I finally got a good tip on a particular dentist and I call... no answer. I call again, to a landline number from a note with a work schedule that an acquaintance of mine from the city sent me for information. There is no answer. I call again and again. No success.

On the spot in the office, a woman with a mask opens for me, says that she does not set the appointments, she just helps the two dentists in their work, that at the moment the dentist I want is not on duty, and therefore if I know him personally, he will answer the phone. I replied that I don't know him personally and that he doesn't pick up the phone and she said: Well, he doesn't pick up the cell phone, they don't answer the landline here either. Come tomorrow when he's on shift, hopefully he'll agree to see you as a patient, but possibly after the new year. I hope he will help you because there is nothing I can do for you.

Well, will he really help? I left the dentist's office depressed. All this meant only one thing - the doctors here only accept familiar people as patients.
When I got sick at the end of September and my illness took an unusually long time and with complications, the specialist in this city only accepted me because she decided to accept me. It was an act of good will, even though I paid her the hefty fee she asked me to, the next time I contacted her again about the complications, she refused to see me again. Not only that, she also didn't want to pick up the phone even once, and while I was in her office and she was examining me, she kept picking up and making appointments for the next few days... yet for familiar people.

That seems super weird, doesn't it? Inhumane too, I'm sure. Or at least from my point of view. Now you will say that doctors are humans too and should be able to choose their patients, but what did they swear by at the beginning of their careers? Isn't it to help people?

I almost imagined putting on my makeup the next day and going to this dentist to beg him to accept me as a patient. Maybe he would like me as a woman and only then would he give me an appointment with him as a patient. However, I immediately rejected this idea. Do I have to kind of prostitute to get a dentist appointment?
Should I go and beg a dentist or doctor to accept me as a patient, examine me and help me?
No, we are not talking about a town where there is only one dentist to justify such behavior and attitude. But of course not all dentists here are good specialists and I have already tried two young girls who really tried to ruin my teeth just by doing a simple and ordinary procedure. I just didn't want to experiment with one or another dentist anymore.

Well, I must say that I hope this behavior and attitude is only a local trait in this city, because in the neighboring district city, things are not like that. There, a specialist answered my phone, even when he was abroad. Because that's what it means to be a doctor - to have responsibility for the lives of the people who turn to you.

So now I'm going to see a dentist in the second largest city in Bulgaria, an hour and a half away by train one way. Only because the dentist recommended to me there picked up the phone. How little a person needs!

P.S. The vet, a young man who treats our cats and has even made house calls, is the most humane doctor in this town out of many doctors and dentists here combined.
But I have the feeling that he is not local. Same as me.

Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|
