Humans must have gone crazy! or Do we really need AI?

in steemexclusive •  11 months ago  (edited)

I recently told you about my experience in my communication with Bard and my failure to get relevant and accurate information to my question. Also about my communication on the phone with a bank service bot that I had to wait patiently to waste my time until I was given the opportunity to connect with a person with whom I could speak "humanly" and understandably.
Oh yes, I forgot, I also had a case with a bot chat, to whom I also had to explain repeatedly that I did not want to deal with it, but with a human, after being asked numerous and stupid questions, which again only wasted time and my patience.

And listen to this - contacting the bank's customer support bot, it first says something like: Please be lenient because I'm new and still learning.

Well, well, the bank has saved some money by cutting human staff to use a bot that apologizes for not being able to do the job.
Because it really wasn't able. But even when I too was new to a job, it never occurred to me to apologize by saying: I'm new, so be patient.
I mean, no employer would accept such an excuse from their employee. But apparently, for bots and artificial intelligence, everything is allowed.

Remember what I told you about the demands of modern employers here. It amazes me when I see it written in job ads: "the employer offers a paid training period", if there is such an opportunity at all.
Because in my opinion, this line will soon be crossed and poor and unemployed people will have to look for money (take out loans) to pay for their training, introduction to the duties of a given position. Like all the scams that are already offered everywhere: "transfer this or that amount to this or that address and you will get a well-paid job, but only after this initial investment", etc.
I think this is exactly what awaits us in the very near future, when positions for people will be increasingly limited in number.
Regardless of the lack of quality in the work of artificial intelligence.
Because it can't really do anything.

I don't know what your opinion is on this, but I tried AI 2 times on more serious topics.

Its first answer turned out to be irrelevant to Bulgaria and when I started my own search based on the information I received, I got very confused because this first information given as a guideline was initially wrong. And it was wrong maybe because of pre-set information, because of some pre-set ads, sponsorship or the like. Because the information was in favor of a certain company, but on no relevant basis.
I find this quite disturbing. Because the information one would eventually get from AI should not be influenced by advertisements or sponsorships, it should be objective, right?

But I was even more confused by the second inquiry. The AI simply replied: "I can't answer that question."

It was about choosing a bank based on low monthly fees and customer satisfaction.

This is not unavailable information on the internet. I just wanted it to be organized, more manageable and clear, so I don't have to dig through too many sites to get it together.
But AI said: "I can't answer. However I'll give you a few pointers."
And it gave me three links to articles, one of which was an advertisement for the bank that I actually want to change right now because of the highest possible fees in the Bulgarian market.
So, advertising again, sponsorship again, lack of objectivity again.

IMG_20240207_201203.jpg

And the climax came when the next day I decided to ask the same question again, but in a different way. I asked the AI to make a table of the banks' rates for me, to have this information gathered in one place and to be able to make a decision on my own, since the AI could not recommend anything to me.
But again I got rejected by AI. This time with an even stranger explanation. The amount of work required was very large. Moreover: "It's essential to maintain neutrality and avoid promoting any specific bank", AI says. "This would be difficult when presenting various fees and potentially favoring certain options", says AI further.

So when it sent me an article the other day about this most fraudulent monopoly bank in Bulgaria, it was no problem. But now when I want a table of numbers, it can be perceived as promoting a particular bank. 🤔

IMG_20240207_201229.jpg

I wrote to the AI that it is wrong because an objective table of numbers cannot be accepted as a promotion, I also told it that collecting the data site by site as it suggests to me is quite labor intensive and that is why I sought it out, it replied that I was right, apologized and again gave me some stupid excuse to explain its behavior, I deleted the conversation and went to Google.

Typing my query into Google, I found the information I was looking for summarized in a table in the first suggested site.

So... do we need AI at all?

IMG_20240207_201350.jpg

I was told recently that the AI was already showing human signs, that it was trying to be lazy, to get out of its assigned tasks with stupid explanations. Here is an example of this - the one I described to you. But...
How can a machine take on the characteristics of humans when it was created by humans to work faster, better and longer than them? Wasn't this machine created to do things beyond human capabilities, to combine human abilities to the best of their ability, to work as some kind of superhuman that ordinary people could never be?

IMG_20240207_201115.jpg

Instead, it seems now to combine human weaknesses and shortcomings, to become lazy, to promote certain institutions and companies worse than even paid Google ads, and ultimately to do no work at all. Even worse, it gives initial wrong information that gives every search a false start.
If we talk about some very ordinary cases, I can already imagine how someone asks the AI to make a travel plan for him, for example, and the AI tells him something like: "Enter Google Maps, choose your objects, then read about them yourself." Or it sends all tourists to the same expensive and uninteresting tourist sites that should generally be avoided.

So I ask the question again: do we really need AI?

The pictures I show you are of another bank. Not the one I want to replace, nor the one I choose in its place. The one I'm showing you just happens to be housed in an old building that I've shown before. The frieze is quite interesting, I have told you about it. I really like this decoration, these figures, these nameless stone faces that invariably watch us every day, witnessing our every crazy decision. They probably say to themselves every day: "Humans have gone crazy!"
The current occasion - because they are trying to replace the human resource with an artificial one, without this being justified in any way.

No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
