It All Comes Down To A Choice!!! What Will You Choose?steemCreated with Sketch.

Funny how we can make up excuses to not get what we really want.

We often don't even see we are making excuses,
we  believe we have "reasons".

But those reasons are ultimately only excuses, as if we really really really wanted something, we would do whatever it takes to get it.  For most of us, when we want food we get it, when we want sleep we find a way to rest, and when we have to go to the bathroom, we find a place to go.

I find that it is not the getting of what we really really want that is truly the problem, but the underlying issue of why we aren't giving it to ourselves that needs to be addressed.

Maybe we want to wallow in our self-pity,
as it is a comfortable place we already know it to be.

Maybe we don't really want to make the effort
as we've become complacent and find it too much trouble.

Maybe we don't think we deserve it--feeling that we are unworthy.

What ever the reason/excuse, it really all comes down to a choice, as we are making choices every moment, whether we know it or not.

There have been many comments on my posts (about receiving a plane ticket to Steemfest from @theprophet0), something to the affect of: "I wish I could go, but...".  'I would love to, but I just know I can't......".

And I understand that feeling of being tied down to commitments and responsibility, or feeling incapable of meeting the financial requirements, etc., but I feel we can overcome what is holding us back.

I was asking myself what would be one of the worst case scenarios of why someone wouldn't be able to go to Steemfest.  I imagined that  a loved one is on their death bed and the Steemian is the sole caretaker of that person.  That would be a pretty legit reason why not to go to Steemfest.  However, even in a scenario like that, one must realize that it is a choice.  It is about priorities.  One wouldn't have to feel bad about missing Steemfest while choosing instead to sit with a loved one perhaps through the last minutes of their life on this earth.  Of course one could chose to go to Steemfest, but then would likely be saying "I wish I could stay home with you while you die, but I am choosing to go to Steemfest instead."

Of course something must be sacrificed to have something else.  We can have anything, but not everything all at once.

So...all we have to do is feel what is truly the priority.  Then, focus on that and make it happen.

If you want to go to Steemfest remember - where there is a will there is a way.

With crowd funding and the extreme amount of rewards that are being earned right now, there is no reason why we can't get funds to help all those who really want to go.  We have months to work on meeting our expenses, and we can lower our costs by making the trip as sustainable and inexpensive as we can.  Of course most of us will need plane tickets to get there and some ground transportation of some sort to our destination.  But, just because most everyone else will stay at the hotel, eat at restaurants, shop and pay for sight seeing, doesn't mean that has to be the  mode of operation we choose.  We may be sacrificing some of the general adventure by skipping on those niceties, but we will be enriched by other experiences that may enhance our journey and we may be even greater rewarded for our alternative choices.  The finances can be handled and there is help on Steemit in so many ways.

So, if you want to go to Steemfest it is a possibility!!!  All you need to do is decide what your priorities are.  If your job or a commitment is of great value to you and you will stay home for that, then your choice is already made and you can be grateful you have things in your life you find to be of value.  And if Steemfest is a priority, there are ways to make it happen.

Challenge yourself to address your core issues:

Move out of your comfort zone.
Know it will be worth your effort.
Remember just by being a Steemian - you are worthy just like everyone else.

Tune into the offerings, write your story, offer up your skills and abilities, upvote and resteem the blogs that are crowd funding to help others.  Karma is real and you CAN make it if you choose it to be so.

Here are a few opportunities that are knocking right now:
@theprophet0 is paying it forward some more -- get in on his next offering.
@aggroed offers a chance for minnows here!
and @steemfestdreams is offering an opportunity here!!

Set your priorities.
Make your choice.
Engage the possibilities.
Anything can happen.
I am living proof it is so as I have already won my plane ticket to Steemfest.
YAY!!!

Thank you to all who have supported the opportunities to go to Steemfest.

I KNOW it will be a priceless event and feel certain that it will change your life.

And. ..I hope to hug you when you get there!

When a person says "Yes, but (...)" it actually means "Yes, but I'm too afraid of potential consequences." There is no limit to human excuses not to do something. So I always say, it's much harder to regret something you haven't done than regretting something you have done.

It is amazing how many excuses we can come up with, especially for NOT doing something. Fear can be debilitating on many levels and can keep us from truly living. Once we become aware that we have a choice, it is wise to challenge ourselves to choose wisely. Great comment @ericwoelk.

I agree. If you want something really bad, I am sure you get can there (with hard work ofcourse). Some people are more blessed of have it easier as others, but that shouldn't restrict anyone mentally or physically.

I did not book my ticket yet, but I am set on going - there is no scenario in my head as to why I would go. I just have to post a little bit more on steemit and hope to fund it from there soon!

Sometimes it doesn't even take hard work. From my experience it is more about being in alignment with receiving the blessings. I didn't work hard to win the plane ticket. I just knew it was MY opportunity and set myself into sharing my inspiration for going. I knew I would win, I just didn't know when.

Usually when things are hard, I find that I am either not ready, or it is truly not in my best interest. We each have our own challenges, and I find most of them are in our heads.

I'm so glad you are going. Will be fun to laugh with you again. (I imagine you meant "there is no scenario in my head as to why I WOULDN'T go. ) Now is the time to gather some Steem and make it happen. <3

That's interesting actually. I shall keep this one in mind - never thought it of that way.

Though, I must say that I find it hard to eg. get a consistent income through steemit, but that won't stop me from trying. Maybe it's not meant to be for me, or maybe I just have to work for it a little bit harder.

And yeah, I am on mobile now and typing is really laggy sometimes, so I sometimes it misses my input :(

Or maybe the timing for your Steemit career is not yet ripe. Perhaps there are other things you need to experience first, or that will give you greater perspective, more skills, better contacts, or ....? Or maybe there is an opportunity waiting in the wings for something that would be even more inspiring than Steemit. Or maybe Steemit will explode and we will all be living off our blogs, sending each other little love notes, upvoting our favorite posts--maybe just not yet. I'm remembering to embrace everything regardless of what it looks like from my limited perspective. it's all perfect, right now!!

Would be pretty amazing if we could live off of Steemit. Man, I would be in heaven!

Maybe right now is not the time, but maybe in the near future it will be and I want to be there when that happens. Doesn't mean I won't stop trying in the meantime :)

I must say though, I am quite okay with where I am right now, though I just want to grow! I'm young and I want something, haha.

So far I an really happy with steemit. I couldn't imagine having an account worth of $6000 when I accidentally met Meghan and spontaneously came to SteemFest (and met the most amazing people too)! I wasn't much invested but I am starting to understand, enjoy and use it more often every day!

I do believe it is possible that we live off of Steemit -- there are people like the @hilarskis buying automobiles and paying all their bills. They have made a serious investment of time and energy, giving back great value to Steemit and this community. I feel that what goes around comes around, so what we give we receive in return, often incredibly multiplied.

Gratefully, no matter our age we have infinite possibility, as long as we recognize that and can engage it. Being open to what comes and following our inspirations will guide us to a fulfilling experience. I also believe that doing what we love over doing what makes money will pay off on many levels, including financially.

I'm glad you're seeing the value in Steemit. @firepower is a great one to hang with and find appreciation for what is. Good job tuning into that!

Thank you for this well thought-out reply. We should bundle some of your quotes up and make a book out of it because whew!

I love your philosophy. You are a great person, @everlove.

I only aspire to be like @hilarski one day - it would be amazing. Travelling forever as I Steem on sounds like a dream come true. I believe @firepower is on his way to victory though. Taking his parents out for dinner, buying a new Macbook.. And he definitely deserves it. I owe him big time for introducing me to this platform and I am forever grateful for that.

Steemit is a combination of community and love, but also does not lack in charity and offering the possibility to give people some financial push in the back. It really is a great platform and I hope to be here for a long time <3

Thanks for the acknowledgement @sjennon. I feel I have a lot to say--been going through a lot and doing the internal work. Experience breeds upgrades--thank goodness for evolution!!

@hilarski is truly an inspiration. Amazing things he has to offer and sets an incredible example of what is possible. I'm also glad that @firepower is coming through strong, and that he is being rewarded for his efforts. He's a great soul and one of my favorite people I met at Steemfest.

We all have a lot to be grateful for Steemit. For that it is worth giving our time and our energy to make it even more magnificent -- for what we put in, we will get out. I love that we are sticking with it through thick and thin. Our steady devoted attention will pay off. So glad you're finding the value in it. It may be the saving grace!!!

Oh my god!! I love posts like these!
I completely believe and agree to what you said. Anything is possible if you have the correct attitude for it and once you set you mind on it nothing can stop you from achieving it. Thanks for sharing such a powerful message with us all @everlove

Lots of love :)

Oh my god!!! I'm so glad you're with me. It's great to share such appreciated content. I am with you on all you said as well. Let's keep shining the light!! <3 Love returned a bazillion fold.

Yes!!! I have been extremely positive all my life and specially after my schooling I have developed a strong attitude of gratitude ( as they say it ) ;) And life has been surprising with blessings since then! :)
Love Love~ :D

An attitude of gratitude is very powerful. How beautiful that you get to reap the rewards of connecting with what is important. I love it that you're here, shining the light. Thanks for being @aishwarya.

Yes :)
"I love it that you're here, shining the light. Thanks for being @aishwarya."
Okay this made my day :) <3
Always a pleasure talking to you @everlove !

Okay this made my day :) <3

As you are making the day for many others I am quite certain.
It is a pleasure to share with you indeed @aishwarya. <3

Thanks a ton :)

And it's great to see someone I can share this with :)

I feel that!!! Blessed are we! <3

True words! Thanks for your post. Many people don't even really know their priorities. Sometimes you can't think straight. It often happens that you think your daily schedule sets your priorities. Its difficult to think outside your normal routine!
I have this problem as well. But if you can think outside the box it's a relief! I have to train that kind of thinking. Twenty minutes of meditation a day and - of course - reading motivational steemit-posts, help me a lot. :)

So everyone: enjoy your time @ Steemfest!!!

It often happens that you think your daily schedule sets your priorities.

Boy, isn't that the truth. Most people don't even know what they like as they have been told what to do, when and how to do it for most of their lives. So choosing a priority can be extremely difficult, especially topped with shoulds, have-tos and musts!!

I like to think how little importance certain aspects of life can become once you walk away form them--say for example what is happening at home while you are on vacation. The whole world at home could have crumbled, and if you didn't now it, your life would still be awesome. We can leave behind things we thought we needed and rethink what is of value and go with that. It is difficult for most people though, as you say, getting out of the box can be quite a task.

Meditation and uplifting Steemit posts---good choices @thecoach. Glad you're here to throw around some thoughts with me. Blessings to you.

Great inspirational post :)
We must live by the choices we make, they may not always be the right ones but they define who we are :)

Determining "right" from "wrong" is also a matter of perspective, as things shift our preferences, ideals, values and inspirations also change. What if everything was "right", but we just aren't in tune with why?

We are defined by the choices we make which is why giving each moment deliberate attention is so valuable. So grateful to share thoughts with you @cryptodan. I appreciate your comment and presence here.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Good motivation! Follow you:)

Thanks @victoriart. I'm grateful to share inspiration. I truly appreciate the follow. I checked out your blog. It seems we have much in common. Upvoted and followed you too...and sent you an invitation.

This only happens in Steemit. This is why Steemit will grow and prosper. I bet there will be ton of posts and videos publushed from steemfest. I wonder if there will be livestreams for those who can't go.

Yes...this is just one of the reasons why Steemit is so profound. I imagine this year there will be more media and posting coverage than last year and I wouldn't put it past @roelandp and his incredible team to share livestream of the epicness. Let's hope it is so.

I like you motivational thoughts!

Thank you @hebro. I want everyone who wants to go to Steemfest to go. We can do it together--that's what community is for. Everyone is worthy and we all deserve it just for being Steemians. I hope to inspire others to attend this amazing event, as it was an over-the-top epic experience last year, and being with "family" really restored my faith in humanity. I appreciate your appreciation.

When it comes to stepping outside our comfort zones then feeling is far superior to thinking.
We should almost always go with our feelings if we are to experience the unknown.

Feeling is my main mode of operation, so I can trust my intuition and have to do less thinking. Facing the unknown can make us face ourselves. That in and of itself is a blessing.

Thanks for your comment @markwhittam. I'm blessed to exchange with you.

I love the images on this post.

Thanks @opheliafu. Me too. As you know I love to play with images. Thanks for being here!

good post!
It's important to remind yourself that you do have a choice...sometimes it feels like you have none

Right? Sometimes we just get lost in the game of what is and what we believe has to be and forget that we are the directors of everything and we get to decide what is important to engage in now.

I appreciate your engaging this post @razvanelulmarin. Grateful to have you here.

Great motivational post, thanks for the love! 💝

You're welcome. It feels good to spread it around. I appreciate your comment @nocopyrightarts. I love your screen name btw!!

I agree with your poInt. Yes, we always have reason. I have watched a TED talke whih is about the last minute habit for people. I think there are something really related. But what really sad is that, even the speaker who cannot provide a solution for it. What he can do is just making a graph which turn human life as a excel form, ar let you see how many cell you have lived, how many was wasted. But yet, no solution for that.. sigh

the last minute habit for people.

What exactly does that mean? I would love to see how that relates to this post. I do believe in the wise words of @quinneaker:

"There are no problems, only opportunities for solutions."

lol, I found the talk in youtube:
https://www.ted.com/talks/tim_urban_inside_the_mind_of_a_master_procrastinator

Well, you may think it is just a funny video, but for people like me who suffer, i do thinkit is a serious topic.

Oh yes, Now I understand your comments, and how these subjects could be related. That was a clever talk, but as you say, there appears to be no solution.

I feel part of the trick about making choices and getting things done is to choose things that excite us. To wrap our lives around creating experiences that we are overjoyed to engage, to set ourselves up for doing things that we would do without deadlines and without coercion--things that we wouldn't want to stop ourselves from doing because we are so excited to do them.

When we base our lives on shoulds, have-tos and musts we then find we have to MAKE ourselves do things because they aren't' really things we WANT to do. If our desired outcome is important, than even the things in our journey that may not be the most fun or desirable to experience become much easier because we are passionate about the overall project and engage from a place of inspiration and self-motivation, rather than an outside force or pressure to perform. People are so accustomed to feeling they HAVE to do things, and don't realize it is all a choice. I believe living for passion and inspiration will handle most of these procrastination issues. It's hard to be motivated to do things you don't want to do. In fact, it puts a huge damper on life when living through obligation.

And on this Steemfest subject, feeling obligated to do the things we believe we HAVE to do instead of taking the opportunity to experience something amazing that we really would WANT to do, is from my perspective a form of fear or worthiness--not allowing ourselves to receive the gift of something incredibly inspiring. Humans have become complacent, falling prey to - "that's just the way it is". We can choose whatever we want, though sometimes that is the hardest for people to see and overcome. Living by values and doing what is in our own true best interests is in my experience really quite rare. It can be hard to choose the things we really want (or even know what that is) while being bogged down with the things we have gotten ourselves into. A fresh perspective is always of great value.

I appreciate your comment @victorier. I can see why suffering and procrastinating are serious topics. They are common and we would do well to make changes that reflect our higher good.

Amazing post! I love posts like these & i have to agree with so much of what you said! Its all so true for so many people even me at times. Its a very motivational post! Love it & im going to follow you😁

meep

Sweet @aedwards. It's always great to get feedback about the value we bring to Steemit. I think much of that is true for most of us at some point in time--even when we know all we have to do is choose!! Thanks for the follow. I appreciate your presence here. Will stop by your blog and see whats up!

Im very new & need to add a blog of more about things i feel

I believe people are really beginning to appreciate that. The comments are very encouraging and there appears to be great value in providing opportunity for people to talk about it. Go for it @aedwards.

People don't want to believe (well their ego & minds don't want to believe) that they are far more capable of manifesting their realities than they've been told to believe.

Excuses and reasons go hand in hand - Hopefully this will motivate people to go to Steemfest who may have believed that they couldn't :)

People are conditioned away from loving themselves and don't even know what they like, let alone what they are capable of. I also hope to inspire that potential.

Yes, I definitely agree with you 🌻🌻 thanks for your inspiring words.

Thanks for your comment @viazenar. It's fun to feel us on the same page.

AGREED @dream.pro. That's what everyone really wants anyway, hence why we do all the things we do. Grateful for you comment and presence here.
