Bye Bye Steemfest!!

The haziness circling around my brain is just starting to fade away as I am in de plane leaving Krakow. Steemfest has come to an end and what a journey it has been!

Everybody goes to Steemfest for their own reasons so I guess in the end everybody will experience it differently. People coming strictly for business and are very direct in their networking, people coming to learn a thing of two about the current Steem developments, people coming to promote themselves, and people who just simply want to see what the Steemfest fuss is all about. I am this last category :)

For me Steemit in general was already a 'I came to blog for a buck and ended up staying for the community'. This week was about meeting the community and boooooi I did meet them. What a gigantic social event and I had never expected that so many solistic functioning people would have these awesome group dynamics.


Since I had missed literally all the technical talks due to work reasons (luckily I was able to watch a lot of them on the Youtube stream on Thursday) and only reaching Steemfest on Friday evening the only thing I can write about was the social aspect. And literally the second walking into the ICE building it was like social take off. (Yes, this post will totally turn up as a Tagfest but the thing is…it was YOU guys that made Steemfest for me!!


I think I was literally the last person who picked up her badge and in that process the first person I ran into was @firepower who has done an awesome job in being in the organising squad. Soon @roxane (who was ofcourse working on her scan streak) came passing by together with @daveonarrival and @vikonomics. Dinnertime was almost there and I found fellow Dutchies and beautiful souls @soyrosa @r00sj3 and the man I had already digitally proposed to because of all these awesome Dutch treats he had brought to Polen @guchtere. Yes, dubbelzoute drop is not everybody but @for91days will be the first one to disagree with this. Gentlemen, I promise to start using the #travelfeed from now on okay, only because you all are so awesome.


At this point also my favorite and long awaited Panamanian friends @el-cr and @evecab are at the dinner table ducking the Dutch talk. How cool it was to finally meet you guys after so many Discords moments already before!


Moving over to Klub89 I immediately find @iliasdiamantis the friendly Greek. So it worked out to actually be at the same place at the same time for once, since we are always at the same places but a week apart.


I run into @mrlightning who I am have a super cool and long talk with and I hope you take care of my gift ;) You and @techslut are a beautiful couple guys!

Ofcourse meeting @blewitt the uber enthusiastic American dude was good and @cryptogee thank you again for the good talks during the walk home in this thick thick mist!

By this time already (which was only the first morning for me but not for all others) I can conclude that Steemfest mornings are kind of rough! Thank you @nanzo-scoop and @nathanmars for the good convos at the breakfast table, with not always as much voice present as I had wanted

Auschwitz was up on Saturday for me but I will dedicate a separate post to this absolute horrific place. Finally meeting the infamous writing twins @gmuxx and @rhondak was a delight in this bus ride and @revisesociology thank you for being the awesome bus buddy. I appreciated our conversations a lot and will try to get myself a bit more in the books again.

After this emotionally heavy day program it was totally at its place to honor and celebrate life with the #beersaturday gang. @detlev apart from being an fantastic dude you should consider becoming a tour guide. A lot of my evening at Hevre was having a very interesting convo with the smart human @grampo. Thank you again for dedicating some of your time to explain so much during our beer, it got me thinking a lot. @jeanpi1908 surprised for bringing his own Keg from Karlsruhe which tasted a lot better than the Hevre draft. Moving back to Alchemia I got into a convo with the lovely Belgian @toocurious. Tim, you rock and next year please bring your girl and the little one as well, because I would love to meet them. Good laughs with the always happy @luzcypher were memorable and also thank you and @twinner for the walk home!!!

Sunday I took it slow for obvious reasons and the Steemmonsters talk from @toocurious was just perfect in this small setting with @bubke the friendly Belgian Indian @l0uis88 and @rivalzzz gaining some knowledge cards there. Later on the day the trip to the salt mines (where meeting fellow Swiss immigrant @felander) was just crazy. A restaurant underground where 300 people can eat?? @roelandp I don’t know how you pulled all of this off for this amount of money, but respect dude. Epic, I would call it.


As a lot of people will agree with, it was awesome meeting the lovable @meno who had a good red wine game going on there. Back at the Qubus it was a good moment of goodbyes to a lot of people occasionally as well occasionally walking out with @felixxx and seeing some Latin American moves of @anomadsoul. The danger of an closing party in your hotel? Nightly lobby hangouts, but on the other hand you just have to crawl upstairs to reach your bed safe.


Monday was a day where a lot of people had already left of course but we ended up with a small group in a bar, having a nice chill session meeting Mr Berghaim @daniel.errey @guyfawkes4-20 @raj808 and @celestal and thank you @hashcash for the walk back home you lovely soul! (see ya in December??) After sharing a cab this morning with the finest island boy @abh12345 and some good life stories Holland is the next stop before going back to Switzerland again next week.

Steemfest next year again? The body says hell no, and the mind says ‘Where do I send my Steem to’
