Buy an existing island like one of these
Steem Nation would inhabit the island for the Steemit Festival. Bungalows all along the beach. Bungalows inland. A dock for the yachts to pull in. A helicopter paid for the Steemit private jet arrivals. A convention center for key speakers and steemit events. Tickets would be so hot! Even Mark Cuban the bubble man, would want in.
We could boast we are the only cryptocurrency with our own island. It would be the equivalent of Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic for cryptocurrency. A gathering of Steemians on Steemit land.
Wow. It will be costly for a one time fee and it wipl fetch more money to steem. You have a beautiful imagination. Wish a whale could buy an island for us to be using as the yearly steemfest. It will be super awesome abd we will brag all about it

I've been "shopping" for islands for years on privateislandsonline.com (no, I'm not trying to promote that site.) Ever since I first realized I could buy an island for the price of a 1 bedroom apartment in Manhattan, something that still seems a far off dream but somehow more doable the longer I live here, I've been considering different islands and developing them in my mind. I look for a deep water area on at least one side to be able to bring larger boats in, an elevation of at least 30 feet above sea level, good beaches, near enough to an airport that in a life or death emergency you could get help, at least a few acres, etc. I go back and forth on whether I want to spend the extra money for one with an existing source of fresh water and whether I'd prefer there was at least a little hut built there or if I want to build everything from the ground up. Having some kind of other islands or reefs as a bulwhark against strong winds and/or hurricanes is another plus. I've seen some that boast 1,000 teak trees and their own special monkey population.

Hey, your very knowledgeable on island hunting. I used to watch island hunters and I didn't learn this much information on island. I too saw how buying an island can be the same price of a house in some areas. That crazy! I would love my own island, but steemit island would be really good for all of steemit! Steemfest would be awesome and it could brin Finn added revenue for Steem! Thanks for the comment, share your knowledge with @riosparada. He's really getting this idea off the ground.
