5 things I LOVED and HATED about Steem Fest 3 #REALTALK // Exclusive DTube Video 250

in steemfest •  6 years ago

Ok 'hate' is a strong word but the title would look crap if I put something milder instead lol So today it's time for some #RealTalk and talk about 5 things I absolutely loved about Steem Fest 3 and 5 things I didn't. Here is a brief summary of those things (in no particular order), I go into more detail in the video above!

Things I absolutely loved:

  • Location of the event
  • Organisation
  • Food (Vegetarian and Vegan options)
  • Length of Event
  • Meeting fellow Steemians

Things I didn't like:

  • No increase from last year in terms of number of people who attended Steem Fest
  • Price of tickets
  • Number of events (less events = cheaper ticket price?)
  • Venue change
  • Headphones

If you've been to Steem Fest feel free to comment your thoughts below and let me know what you liked/disliked!

Thanks for your compliments and constructive feedback. as organiser i feel an urge to reply with my point of view in your feedback:

Growth: this is the growth pattern:
2016: 206 visitors
2017: 311 visitors = 51% growth
2018: 332 visitors = 7% growth

In terms of tickets I certainly feel it would be greater to go to 450 (which was my internal max cap) but unfortunately this years prices had to increase due to less sponsorship income. So I personally see growth in that that people paid minimumly 70 EUR more then last year, in other words, find it worth to pay. Even in this "bear market" we saw. Also SteemFest is in my opinion a quality over quantity event. I went to events with 1000's of attendees, and in the end you only have a good time with 10-50 people at most, so I don't personally see the point of making mass events for now. Although a 'capped' growth would be great to see. I see this as a stagnant/stable continuation year, like the BTC price was :P

About many events happening: yes the idea of SteemFest is to be the opposite of exactly what you describe: an (imho boring) hotel conference: pick a city, pick a hotel, rent a room in the hotel and don't move out for 5 days and only see the city when you go from the hotel to the airport back home. Btw. all have been recorded and I hope this or coming week to have all livestreams cut back to individual presentations in High Quality.

I like to make it a "conference meets citytrip" event where you have an all inclusive catered and taken care of "good time" with a great group of people. Yes this costs maybe some more money, but then again, if this wasn't arranged, one would still need to buy food, go out in the evening, find transportation, etc. etc. Btw. it's a pity you missed out on the bowling night!

You certainly have a point about Day 1 vs Day 2 venue. Although I also like the fact to have events at different venues to keep the whole thing dynamic, I would have rather wanted to have the Day 1 venue for 2 days, as it aligns more with my feel of a "cool / nice" venue. However it was unfortunately not available on Day 2.

Also the headphones did not work out as intended, it was an experiment, because this was one big hall. Doing the speaker out would have disturbed the other room however (balcony stage). So we could have opted for "Audio cancelling curtain" but that would have been 4 times as expensive as the headphones. Btw for vlogging purposes, you could have, still can, find the parts of audio in the livestream recordings on youtube, and cut out that audio for putting the original "master" under your video(s).

Again, thanks for your input, and hope to see you at future Steemfests!

Dank u zeer Roeland for making all of this happen, I'm already looking forward to Steem Fest 4 :D

graag gedaan!

That is my subjective opinion about all these points:

For me everything was perfect prepared and organised by @roelandp and his team. Family atmosphere, food, drinks, attractions and everything included in price? Well done!

1." No increase from last year in terms of number of people who attended Steem Fest"
Who cares? For me it was perfect. I don't even have a chance to talk with everyone.

  1. Price of ticket - 432 STEEM at the early beginning its a lot for all this high quality stuff that was included? Please... Ok my ticket was sponsored by Partiko but in the first place I bought a ticket from Surfyogi for exactly 432 STEEM and for me it is still cheap as fuck.

  2. "Number of events (less events = cheaper ticket price?)"

We all different so there was attractions for everyone and it is only your problem that you haven't attend them 😎 I've been on almost every attractions apart from Auschwitz.

  1. "Venue change"
I like changes so that for me was another attraction 🤗🤗

  2. "Headphones"
What's wrong with them? For me that was a great innovation. You have 2 stages at a time and people can freely talk around. I got that on my head already there that I will rip audio from Livestream or you can also take another headphones and stick a speaker to your G7x microphone on the top and you will be have even better sound than from livestream. Imagination is everything.

Stop complaining and start doing 🤗🙃

Haha I need to remind myself I'm in the matrix and I can do anything more often I guess :P

Haha 1 and 2 go to Rolandp. I enjoyed all your perspectives on steemfest. I noticed the audio issue with aggroed's speech. I would have loved to see that full presentation. Just read your comment @rolandp I'm going to go watch all the youtube stuff, didn't even think about looking on Youtube (that's where my mind set is at already lol).

Yeah totally lol and I mean definitely go watch it the talks were amazing!

I can pretty much sign all these points. And I think we didn't see each other at the event. Maybe next time. :)

Wir haben uns fast getroffen bei Appics, es war einfach zu viel los aber auf jeden Fall nächstes Mal :P

Some great points here. Interesting thing with the headphones! Maybe go through the headphones and have an out for speakers as well.

Yeah I mean it was great for personal use for sure and I didn't expect to find headphones on every seat lol

Good point about the headphones. @neopch got some audio of talks - I'm not sure how he got that.

It was great meeting you. Thanks again for being part of our gear roundtable.

Thanks for stopping by it was great meeting you too I think Neo took it from the livestreams :P And yes the roundtable was fun!

A distinctive feedback on Steemfest 3!
@cleanplanet and myself are glad that we can awaken awareness. A joint effort to create content would be great! :)
