Steemfest 2 - Home, Poverty, Multi-Nationals!!!

My first Ever video attempt 😒 😜 🙈

A little bit quirky :):)

My ISP Sucks!! I couldn't get the video to load on DTube!! It took me about 8 hours to get it to load on Youtube. I'll try to get the DTube video loaded today. Guess it's too late but anyway, here you go guys :):)

Home:

I guess the video is self explanatory really. It's just about educating the youth and making positive changes :)

Impoverished Communities:

In South Africa there are masses of informal settlements and almost all of them have community leaders which will be easy enough to track down. Once you can explain to them what it's about and how it works (creating independence) then they can create their own little workshops within their communities thus helping and supporting each other. Communities such as these are great at supporting each other and since they're "neighbors" they can quite literally go next door for help.

There will be some challenges i.e. high data costs in South Africa however with some planning and possible assistance these can be overcome. A quick thought for example is to create a little internet (Steemit) hub where members of the community can go and do their thing (post, interact etc.)

What I believe would be exceptional and a possible turning point for the concept is if we can get some whales to create a post of sorts telling the people about their success on the platform. Money talks!!! This can be discussed further should there be some interest from the Whales.

Lastly, I believe the tag is quite important since it will help them connect with each other as well as others that would like to show their support to them. So yes, that's the basic concept in a nutshell. I will do a more detailed post on the topic however I would appreciate some other input as well.

Corporates:

Corporates, especially multinationals that already spend tons of money on advertising could be targeted as well. Since these companies have the financial backing it could be a really nice cash injection into the platform. So as with everyone else they'll create their own account where they can create posts. Whether it be marketing adds or whatever it may be. If they put the capital in they'll quickly pick up a large following that will support them. I do believe the community will be judging them accordingly since they have teams of people running their advertising and promotional departments however if they come to the platform and operate according to the communities interest they in turn will be looked after.

Further to this the capital investment they're putting in earns interest and has major potential to grow in value therefore it's not JUST capital that's being tied up.

This is also being explained in a nutshell really which can be brainstormed and explored in more detail. Approaching companies will require a well crafted pitch :):) I do deal with corporates myself however something like this might be a little out of my league :):)

So that's it!!! Thanks for watching and/or reading :)

CHEERS!!!

That would be jump-start many out of poverty, Therneau.
Followed you, @therneau
A Steemit Internet.org?

That's a good place to stick a camera/mobile to record.
In Dubai, I'd have to check with my traffic police friends, whether I could drive & film at the same time.
Excellent concept.
All the very best for the contest.

Thank you very much @nigelmarkdias :):) Well, guess I'm just lucky that my phone can actually lodge in there by my odometer, lol. What you could do is use a dashcam I suppose, just turn it around so it faces you :) Depending on if that's legal in Dubai... With regards to creating a little hub, well, the technicalities will have to be worked out since I can't expect people who have little to nothing to pay for something like that. I'm thinking down the lines of I'll be willing to pay the bulk of it however the community also needs to contribute. Even if it's a few cents. I've just seen here, in SA, how just giving creates the wrong mentality. What are your thoughts? Pm me on the chat if you'd like :):)

I've just seen here, in SA, how just giving creates the wrong mentality.

My focus has been more on the giver, rather than the recepient.
  • What attitudes do the givers have?
  • Are they creating an emotional obligation?
  • "I've helped you earlier, so now you owe me"?
  • Are my actions going to create a charity dependency?

Politics creates & then culture milks an attitude of entitlement, especially in democracries.

re: Soros' #BlackLivesMatter, India's vote-bank politics. From both experience & Scripture, when people are taught that

  • No one owes them anything. Not the state. Not society. Not even God.
  • Choose to move ahead or continue to wallow in self-righteous self-pity.
  • They have a responsibility to leave a better opportunity and/or more choices for their children whether or not their parents gave them a good deal.

The poor we have in Dubai are construction workers, from the Indian sub-continent, who have been exploited by employment agents from their own countries. e.g. Indian or Pakistani recruiters ripping off their fellow citizens. Fortunately there are many expatriate communities, including many South Africans in Dubai doing some truly noble work for the poor.

Well said @nigelmarkdias!!! In our case, definitely politics that created the situation. It's a shame the people there are being ripped off like that by their fellow citizens. It's just pure greed.

Love the accent! :D

Lol, well, South Africans don't have accents... everyone else does :0 :):)

This might sound a bit asinine. But a part from resteeming. How can an ordinary steemian. A minnow like me help?

Hi there @nicholas1983. Thank you for your comment and enquiry. Well, it depends on which way you're considering helping I suppose? If it's merely spreading the word then a resteem is great :):) If you have some proposals or ideas of your own you can create more awareness. Idk, as I've said it depends on what you have in mind. You're welcome to pm me in the chats if you'd like to discuss something :):) Cheers!!

Hi Thernau... can I found you on Discord for something about this contest? I want to ask some thing to you that I have seen strange in here... Thanks!

Hi there @leotrap. You can do a search for my name in the Steemit chat if you'd like then you can send me a pm there? I'm not too clued up on discord however if you can reach me there that is also ok. I'm just not too sure how the pm system will work there... I'm on the @teamsouthafrica group and occasionally check out some others. Lemme know or drop me a pm somewhere :):)
