Hello readers - welcome to the second of a handful of articles on the lessons I learnt from directly speaking to our fellow community at #Steemfest3 in Krakow.
I decided to put these together because...
- I figured that if I had learnt something from discussions with others, others within the Steemit community may benefit too.
- Steemfest taught me about the power of the community on Steemit, and that's a wonderful thing.
- A written post would exist forever, something that I can return to for reference at a later date.
steemcafe
The second article in this series of articles is based on @steemcafe and his talk entitled "How To Have A Major Impact In Steem In A Year."
Make sure to give @steemcafe a follow while you're here.
There are plenty of opportunities available in the Blockchain world
... and Steemcafe proves it!
As a serial entrepreneur, he has fingers in many business pies.
Look how many countries around the world cryptocurrency and blockchain have taken him. These are countries he claimed to have visited directly as a result of being involved in blockchain and crypto:
To paraphrase, he goes on to explain that
"I love to travel. I've been successful and now brands and people pay me to travel to hang out with them."
The point here is not to brag. The point here is to demonstrate how a focus on one's craft and a passion for pursuing it can open up opportunities never-before available.
Words of advice & the 6 steps to follow
1. Be a service to others
If you want to have an impact, think about how you can help others. Do you have a skill you can teach, or knowledge you can share?
Don't be selfish and think of yourself as the centre of the universe - go out on a limb to support those around you, and they will often come back to help you in other ways later on.
2. Thing big and plan big
Don't limit yourself.
Even as I start thinking about my plan for @goodwithtravels and how I'll create great content and hopefully raise plenty of Steem to convert into $$$ and donate*, I constantly change my mind on what my target earnings should actually be.
- for those that don't know, I'm taking almost a year out from my career in 2019 to travel the world. I've pledged to donate 50% of any Steem earnings to charities and other good causes around the world.
By thinking big and planning big, steemcafe encourages us not to think of the limitations in life, but the motivations and opportunities ahead.
3. Emulate successful people
Don't copy those you respect, as people will see right through you.
You also won't be authentic or speaking with genuine conviction, which was a key part of @Cryptogee's talk and the subject of my last post.
4. Get people's attention
Be proud of your work. Promote yourself.
Both of which will help you...
5. Make friends
Not only do friends upvote friends, but life will be so much more interesting with good friends!
Opening your network in turn provides opportunity for learning, travel, debate and more.
6. Hit it hard, be passionate
One of my favourite English phrases is 'in for a penny, in for a pound.'
I think Steemit is definitely a community that will reward (not just financially, but in other ways too,) those that pursue this mantra.
As steemcafe puts it:
"nobody wants to be a wet blanket. Be Pooh, not Eeyore!"
And a screenshot from the talk (which can be found here, though it seems as though the audio is out of sync with the video):
That's actually me, @goodwithtravels, in the white t-shirt, second row from the front. I always was keen to nerd out and learn.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I was really taken aback by steemcafe's infectious energy and boundless enthusiasm - he even at one point tried in his lecture to convince everyone to sing Journey's Don't Stop Believin' - for no other reason that it would be fun.
That positive attitude, as well as a whole load of drive, has clearly gone a long way in helping him to where he is.
We can all learn from such a positive outlook on life, as who knows where it will take us.
Good luck on the road, back in Nevada and across the world with your crypto-travels. Hope to stay in touch.
Cheers for the pic @steemcafe - sorry it's a little blurry, I didn't realise til later!
Peace.
Franck / @goodwithtravels
Hello Franck 🤗@goodwithtravels. What can I say. THANK YOU. By no means do I have ability to Express how I feel at this moment.
Honored, grateful, & over joyed that you wrote & shared this piece. Really. One of the few times in my life I'm truly speechless. Hahaha🤣
Please know that you my friend & individuals similar to you are why I share. That the universe has granted & given me a great deal. That in turn I wish to; even in a small way to assist others to help achieve their goals, dreams, or simply a smile on their face.
We will share an adventure together that I feel strongly about. Where should we go & who will we meet along the road?
I'm glad you found my attempt at an organizing a sing a long somewhat entertaining.
Thank you. This is my email [email protected]. my discord is @steemcafe#9459. Contact me anytime. Have a coffee on me.
Warmest regards,
