Ever met a Nigerian in a foreign country with strict rules on immigration as a Nigerian?? You'd be amazed at how much you'd feel more at home in that foreign land simply having the knowledge of a fellow countryman or woman in the same land with you. Irrespective of the part of the country that fellow Nigerian is from, SS/SE/SW/NC/NE/NW/MB, in the diaspora, it doesn't matter.
An interview with a fellow steemian @uduben who once traveled to a foreign country, attested that in the diaspora, a Nigerian from any part of the country is usually referred to as your brother or sister.
Having seen posts by a Nigerian Genius @gbenga on uniting the Nigerian Steemians, (I call them Steemgerians - Nigerians on steemit) the introduction of the tag #nigeria after the caring @donkeypong decided to bless the steemgerian community because of the potentials he saw. I am convinced that the necessary mechanisms have been put in place to make the steemgerians benefit from the steemit community.
For a start, I think aside trying to enjoy your blogging or vlogging, earning is a powerful motivation for every steemian and steemgerians should not be left out.
Now, I think if the steemgerians can decide to get an upvoting account, we can produce steemgerian whales.
The benefits of steemgerian whales transcend online support for steemgerians in way of upvotes, it will encourage steemit metups in Nigeria, thereby increasing the overall steemit community and also help steemgerians effectively carry out projects that will improve the socio-economic state of the Nigerian community as I have seen projects like #stach by the highly innovative @ejemai and more recently the very humongous proposal by @bania on the smart city using crypto technology and CLT..
I also read about Steemit In Nigeria conference by steemgerians and now look forward to the Steemfest holding in Nigeria
I have a dream too, that one day, steem will be widely accepted as a currency in the country but not stopping there, it has to be a means for Nigerians to develop the Nigerian landscape infrastructure, digital and technological infrastructure and socio-economic paramaters of the country.
All these and more are achieveable by steemgerians if truly steemgerians can come together and build a truly strong and great #steemgerian community.

steemgerians is super weird and a mouthful, I sure hope that isnt what we are going to call ourselves, better to stick with the "nigerian community" that we have been called since the project started.
