Toxic people are draining. Encounters with them leave you emotionally wiped out. These difficult people are drawn to the reasonable ones and all of us have likely had at least one person in our lives who have us bending around ourselves like barbed wire in endless attempts to please them – only to never really get there.
Your time and energy are essential for your own life. Don’t be overly willing to give them away.
You might not be able to change what they do, but you can change what you do with it.
Being able to spot their harmful behaviour is the first step to minimising their impact. You might not be able to change what they do, but you can change what you do with it.

Rather than owning their own feelings, they’ll act as though the feelings are yours. As in projecting their feelings and thoughts onto you. Even if they are the one who is angry at you but won’t take responsibility for it and might end up accuse you of being angry at them.

Great advice. It's great to help but stay away from those who take advantage of your kindness. I only have a couple of people I consider true friends because they have proven how true they are again and again.
