Description

As I have mentioned in my previous [post about my date with my little one](https://steemit.com/momtales/@yadah04/the-joys-of-being-a-mom-having-a-date-with-my-little-one-e7aa7ac04203d), the jeepney ride with my little one was rewarding. Although I was hesitant at first, but I conceded to her wanting to experience commuting — not minding the hot weather, the length of the ride, or whether we transfer from one point to the other.

### Jeepney ride it is!

One of the trademark of our country is our very own jeepney. We even have souvenir items.

### Worth the Ride

The ride from our place to our destination takes about 30 minutes or more but I was quite surprised she did not complain at the stop-and-go movement of the jeepney from loading and unloading passengers. On the contrary, she was having fun. Since we sat behind the driver, it was “mandatory” thing for the other passengers’ fare to pass through us. She was attentive, sort of like a jeepney conductor.

- *”Paabot, bayad po.”*

She would reach out her hand, get the fare, give it to the driver and proudly smiles at me.

#### We need to help others and we needed the help of others. My little one was **willing to cooperate** in giving the fare and the change of the passengers. She was conscious enough that the driver’s both hands should be on the stirring wheel. Well, that is a pretty smart thought to ensure a safe and smooth ride for us to reach our destination.

- *”Para po.”*

She knew that saying *”para”* or knocking means stop. Whenever someone says *”para”*, she would repeat it to the driver and knock too.

#### They say life is a ride. Others reach their destination faster than we do. Sometimes we have to endure the bumps on the road, or the hefty traffic, the pollution, the heat and all. So we all should learn how to be **patient**. Anyway, the jeepney ride is going forward and every inch forward gets us closer to where we want to go.

- *”Pituhan po yan.”*

When a new passenger comes, and the drivers says that, she would fix how she sits to make a seat for the new passenger. Funny, she would squeeze herself, squish me even, to move some more just to make a seat for others.

#### Isn’t it upsetting, irritating even, to see others sitting just of their their butts while others sits loosely not mindful of other passengers? Just a little **sacrifice** would make a difference for other’s ride to go on smoothly. Just like in life, we should not be selfish to look after our own convenience alone.

It makes me smile deep down to see her being helpful in such a little way. It makes her observant to others’ well-being and cooperate with the people around.
