A trowel is a construction tools used to put, plain and level concrete plaster on a certain building and today, I'm gonna share to you how I spent my days in school, furnishing my project.
Last week we are required to submit a trowel and our professor suggest to recycle some used PVC pipes stacked and dumped at the back of our room in order to save money and to repurpose some waste into a useful one however, dealing with it needs a lot of effort and time.
Given the equipments and materials to be used in making a trowel
•recycled PVC pipes
•heat gun
•circular blade
•machine drill
•saw
•screw
•rubber
Using a used PVC with a diameter of 90 cm. from the past semester project. We cut the pipe using a saw with a length of 150 cm.then heat gently using heat gun. When the heat swiftly soften the PVC, flatten the pipe.
In our case, we make an innovative way to flatten the PVC by using two large piles of tiles and put it in between the tiles and flatten it. (Repeat the procedure many times until the pipe is fully and wholly flatten, then cool it). Making use of the finish trowel as a bench mark to configure the trowel, then furnish using circular blade and to stripe out some remaining unwanted pieces.
After that, make work of the handle using 180 cm. pipe with a diameter of 20 cm. Heat the handle and curve it gently until it reaches 1in. of height from the flatten pipe then cool it for some minutes.
When it cool, flatten every tip of the curve handle by 1 in. and cool it again then, gently dig a hole on it together with the flatten pipe and screw it together to produce an unfinish trowel.
Make sure it is properly screwed to avoid errors. Paste the unfinish trowel into the rubber using rugby chemical and cut the remaining rubber side by side of the trowel and then, there you have! A finish trowel.
Thanks for dropping by
Furnishing a trowel from used PVC pipe is an innovative way to recycle materials and craft a practical tool. Begin by cutting the PVC pipe into the desired trowel shape, ensuring it has a sturdy handle for comfortable use. Smooth the edges with sandpaper to avoid sharpness. To enhance durability and functionality, consider adding a metal blade to the PVC base.
